Al Duca in City of London, Westminster

Authentic Italian food and friendly service! I've been there a couple of times about a year apart: once for dinner with friends before the theatre, and another time for lunch while doing some shopping. I would recommend it and would definitely go again!

The scarce food and the treatment worthy of putting the following review: We were treated very well at the beginning by both the manager and the waitress who served us (a girl with glasses and a ponytail). When she brought us the bill, I politely asked them to remove the supplement for the service (since it is optional). When I said this, the waitress changed radically. a little more and he insults us...brutal, to anyone who reads this review, do not pay the supplement, it is OPTIONAL and you will see how "well" they are treated when you tell them about it. On the other hand, the restaurant is quite expensive. My advice: That the manager of this restaurant educate his staff or find a new one. Greetings

This was the first meal we’ve had here; a place that has been in the neighborhood for years. Quiet space, warm colors and cozy on what was a damp/drizzly evening. We were there for early dinner so service was prompt. My husband was disappointed in the pasta al vongole which for some reason was liberally seasoned with crushed red pepper. This is not the usual preparation for this dish. It was so hot to the point of not being enjoyable. Moderately priced wine Otherwise a nice meal.

Great Italian restaurant in the heart of St James. Both our dishes (Crab tagliolini and Chicken Milanese) were excellent. Prompt and efficient service and for this part of London good value. Obviously popular as it was very busy on a Tuesday lunchtime so probably best to book.

We happened upon this restaurant after an event nearby, and arrived at 9.30 pm. We were made to feel extremely welcome. We very much enjoyed our meal, which was very attentively served with advice given about what to choose etc. We will most definitely return.

Great location, lovely posh restaurant. Probably ideal for business lunches especially when wanting to impress boss or customers, but it's unlikely I would return with friends. Described as authentic Italian, but to be blunt, it isn't. It's an English take on Italian food, for example pasta was no better than what I've had at Prezzo. I would expect better for the price paid. There's a place near Edward Road Station that is the place to go if you want closer to the Italian experience at a sensible price. Al Duca was simply way too expensive for the quality of food served. Service was good.

It's a lovely Italian restaurant, the service is great and the food very good! Do don't have to wait long because it's all fresh pasta ❤️!

A very friendly little room, exceptional service. It wasn't a first at Al Duca but I found the kitchen a little behind the scenes. Extraordinary crab pasta, good gravlax salmon, really excellent chicken Milanese. Disappointment for the duck which was not very generous and served lukewarm. Wasn't able to get in this time; but I've been several times before, and the food is always excellent.

The food was good and the staff were friendly but my personal opinion is it isn't worth the cost. The tiramisu was coated in such a thick layer of cocoa it was hard to swallow and the food was nice but honestly not much better than many chains. Certainly not worth of the prices

Delicious food and service - as long as this menu is on, I highly recommend the parmesan sprout starter.

My new favorite restaurant in London. It's a charming establishment is on the Duke of York Street in St. James. The service was impeccable from the wait staff to the owner. Food was true Italian, delicious. The wine was top shelf. The owner talked to us even as the restaurant closed. Thank you. We will return .The Schnittkers from California USA

The food was authentic and delicious! We shared the Paccheri with argentinian prawns, black cabbage, vine tomatoes, each ordered the duck and shared the arugula salad. The restaurant is casual, it was cold outside the night we went so we would recommend sitting well away from the entrance. The servers were nice and the food really was delicious!

Drop in, really positive experience. One of us had a most agreeable Chicken Milanese and I greatly enjoyed a delicious tuna steak. Broccoli stems were perfect, and we loved the garlic sautéed potatoes. Staff warmly welcoming, friendly and welcoming. Price point is very reasonable for that exotic corner of London. We’ll drop in again.

The place should change their hours of service on the website and on Google, it shows they close at 11 p.m. My sister and I arrived at 9:30 p.m and they told us they were closed already. We told the hostess about the hour and she said that the chef told her the kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m. I understand the fact that restaurants have a specific hour in which they close the kitchen BUT it is deceiving to have 11 p.m set as their closing hour, people keep arriving until that hour.

Je recommande vivement ce restaurant, nous avons été séduit par la qualité des produits comme l’huile d’olive à tomber, les pâtes maison et le tiramisu…. Avec un service au petit soin, des roses fraîches sur chaque table. Belle expérience !

We went here for a pre dinner "Piccadilly theater" and arrived at 6pm We both chose a main course and a dessert to follow The food we had was excellent and showed off the skills of the inhouse italian chef. There was a good choice of wines which encouraged us to have a dessert wine which again was top notch. Would come again as its in easy walking distance of the piccadilly theater or other venues

Excellent restaurant with lovely atmosphere. I chose it because of the gluten free options - all the food was really lovely and staff attentive and service great. A real find in St James’ area.

Came across this place out of chance and we had a wonderful meal, tasty wine and a friendly service. The menu is not too big, but with options to cater most diets. The portions are on a smaller size, so you may not end up having only 1 course here! However, I will remember the taste of my dish for long, which is a great sign, isn’t it?!

We stumbled upon this gem while shopping in London near Jermyn St. They had a wonderful outdoor eating space in the shade. The service was excellent. The meal was superb! The waitress told I their chef is an authentic Italian chef. The proof was in the food. The postal was very fresh and sauce made from scratch. Many other wonderful options to chose from. Great romantic lunch and location. An excellent place to rest from the business of the city and people.

Spotted this restaurant off Jermyn Street and in need at lunchtime. What a treat. We both enjoyed a wonderful 2 course lunch, starter and main. Attention to service was first class. Well priced. We’ll be back.

Al Duca is Superior! Our family of 15 enjoyed an incredibly delicious meal together tonight. Highest Compliments to the Chef! We dine together all over the globe and this is certainly top notch. Culinary, Staff, Ambiance all perfect in detail, even selection of ergonomically balanced dinnerware. If you're in London, give yourself the joy of dining with Al Duca!

Authentischer Italiener mit moderaten Preisen und einem excellenten Geschmakserlebnis. Die Karte ist sehr klein. Dennoch findet fast jeder etwas. Es gibt auch Glutenfreie oder Vegetarische Optionen.

Got a recommendation from a colleague, he advised it for good food and reasonable pricing in comparison to some others $$$ neighbors. All appeared to be true, plus a good selection of wines. Easy to recommend!

Very average food, overpriced for taste

Excellent service and very tolerant of our delay in ordering. Quite expensive (£4.50 for a 70p bottle of sparkling water and a 400 -500 % mark-up on the wine) for what it is and food was OK, albeit perhaps a little expensive. In summary, I probably wouldn't go there again

Booked here on the recommendations of a friend for a business dinner. We had a great meal, good service & we were all pretty impressed. Food was delicious and the menu was away from the norm in most Italians which made a pleasant change. Service dropped the ball on my dessert, which was a cheese board. Served first with no bread or crackers & when that did arrive still had no knife to eat it with. I didn't pay the bill bill but pricing on the menu looked pretty reasonable. Not my area normally but if I was around here I'd definitely go there again.

Solid choice in St. James’s. I eat here often. I’ve never been disappointed. Lobster salad is a great choice for light lunch.

Trusted the waiter with my wine and he did not dissapoint. The Beef Sirloin with a side order of sautéed spinach is absolutely amasing and my friend had Prawn Carbonara which was equally delicious and we finished off with a Tiramisu.. Perfect.

Hmm, the food is good, but not really special. Careful with the wine list, you can spend some proper money on that if you're not careful!

I find it very hard to find restaurants to offer value for money in this area. I spend a lot of time with clients always trying to work out where to eat. However, I am absolutely thrilled that I found this place because the food is absolutely stunning, and most importantly, a very good price point. Fresh ingredients that were seasonal, simple dishes that were completely imaginative, and cut absolutely perfectly. What more could you asked for?! My client was super impressed, and he is from Sicilian heritage!

Wonderful modern Italian, great food and service. Prices for main courses and puddings are reasonable but bizarrely, starters are wildly overpriced often costing the same as a main course. Why???

The service is great here but the food needs a total overhaul. During our dinner visit, the pasta dishes, in particular, were astonishingly ordinary, lacking in flavor and served in meager portions. The dish depicted in the photo, touted as one of their signature items, was profoundly underwhelming. Given the plethora of dining options in London within this price bracket and lower, I would suggest seeking out alternatives until the establishment refreshes its menu.

As italian, I can say I forgot to be in UK! I have been there with my husband in September 2022...what a great atmosphere! Well done!

The food is amazing, the service is excellent. The head chef Marco is funny and knowledgeable, gave me nice advice on what to eat and his Cacio e Pepe delicious.

We are long term Al Duca admirers because it is a smart, friendly, well run authentic place but on this occasion it was not on form with what seemed (like so many restaurants today) insufficient staff, who were under pressure so the service sometimes lacked...

Super delicious food, good wine and a nice attentive staff. Very helpful with our difficult allergies. We felt very safe.

Not good, small portion, 60 pound per head, the waiter were nice.

Al Duca - what a great experience! My only regret is that I didn’t order the fresh made carbonara pasta. Affordable night out, very attractive place with a nice structured menu. The cherry on top of the cake was the almond liquor served with canolis. Delicious! Will definitely come back!

Food was quite good but didn't feel like an Italian menu

I wasn’t sure I’d express my disappointment publicly until I received the cheese platter: being a fan of Italian food and wine, I found it offensive labelling that sorry thing as “Italian cheese selection”. Black truffle and mushrooms tagliatelle were as wrong as they could possibly be: dry, no flavour, small portion. They get a second star for the extensive wine selection.

Warm and friendly staff, serving good food from a fairly simple menu. Good sunny outside area with a quite a number of tables.

Ordered a cannolo Siciliano and coffee after reading about this "traditional" Italian restaurant. Was served a lump of Nutella with crushed cannoli shells surrounding it. Tasted ok but definitely NOT a cannolo Siciliano. Paid £11.81 for connolo and coffee. Dissatisfied, won't return or reccomend.

If you go to London, and like italian food, make sure to go to this restaurant. The food is so good and the service is perfect. I always ask what they suggest me and it is absolutely 💯

The best italian food in london! You could literally smell the truffles in the beef carpaccio. Amazing!! The pasta bread etc was great. I always look for google reviews when im in a country and seriously for 1 oak millenials like me it cant get any better than this. Fully recommended!! Bravo!

During our 10 days in London, this is the only restaurant that we went to twice. The pasta is that good! The pasta is homemade. I had the cacio e pepe both times and would order it again and again.

We have been to this restaurant many times and it has always been great. The pasta is always fantastic, especially the homemade ravioli. The service is good as well, so we have had some excellent lunches and dinners here over the years.

Loved al Duca. It offers excellent Italian cuisine in an unpretentious yet comfortable setting. Bresaola with rocket was followed by Rigatoni with sausage in ‘nduja sauce. Campanian red wine was excellent. Service was friendly, swift and courteous. Coffee was upstanding. Will return. Highly recommended.

The food was truly very good; Italian ingredients cooked the Italian way, sometimes with a modern twist but still very consistent with Italian cuisine. Good service and good choice of wines. The menu offers a handful of choices for starters, main, etc and those dishes are made very well. Will definitely go back!

From the start of our evening, the charm and attentiveness of the staff made clear that my partner and I would want for nothing at Al Duca. The choice can be made to dine al fresco, but this brisk evening we dined inside the tastefully decorated and well lit, yet intimate space. The menu was just the right size to provide options for all tastes without the same old, same old - their new chef curated the perfect menu. After selecting a nice white wine from their good selection, we started with pumpkin ravioli with mushrooms - the pumpkin was very flavourful and the freshly-made pasta remarkably delicate, just superb. We shared our entrees because we couldn't bear to try just one. I ordered the bass with dill sauce, served with pickled fennel, chicory and samphire, all of which contrasted beautifully with the tender bass. My partner ordered the Ox cheek and truffle mash with carrot/onion garnish. All was stunning, and the Ox in particular was richly infused with exceptional depth. Our plates were clean. I (easily) convinced my partner to order dessert, and while he was in heaven with the salted caramel/hazelnut-adorned dark chocolate mousse, I went to Cloud 9 with the deconstructed pistachio cannoli - I may never have a constructed regular cannoli again. All in all, a wonderful night of flavour and the exceptional sublime service made the evening one to remember.

I had often visited when I worked nearby so a real delight to return many years later to find a familiar story: lovely food, served with minimum fuss and maximum attention. The Trofie pasta with sausage is a wonderful dish. Wish I could have enjoyed...
