Al-Dar 1 in City of London, Westminster

Al Dar is a laid back, Lebanese restaurant, with a separate seating area outside for shisha etc. The service is very chilled and friendly. It's open until 2am so anytime it takes your fancy to have a coffee or a feast! We had a mezze with shawarma, fatoush, humous, fresh naan bread and it comes with garlic and chilli dips. All very good and reasonably priced. They even gave us some Arabic sweets at the end which was a nice touch. Some of the other customers had large hot sharing platters with meat, rice, salads etc. They looked great too.

L'ambiente è semplice ma carino, tipico per mangiare la cucina libanese e si trova in Edgware Road, dove si possono trovare molti altri libanesi. Essendo amante di questo tipo di cucina, posso dire che qui mangi bene: mezzeh come hummus, moutabal, sambousek al formaggio, fattoush, tabbouleh, per finire con tutte le specialità di carne presentate come main course sono tutte ottime. Se poi non piace la cucina libanese è un altro discorso, ma se vi piace il genere lo consiglio e non vedo l'ora di tornarci!

I was looking forward to going to Al-Dar after many years since I was here. I used to be a regular diner here with my friends when we visited Edgware Road. Unfortunately the restaurant has lost its charm. The food is average at best and the level of cleanliness questionable with grubby tables and menus. The service was very poor and we struggled to get the attention of the waiter. Pricing is quite expensive for the quality of food served. We won’t be returning.

Excellent food and service! Been here few times friends and business associates. The grill platter is just fantastic, along with all the food we’ve had there on the last few occasions. I rarely write reviews but the food and especially the service by Magdi ( hope i spelt that correctly) deserves to commended and mentioned. The waiter Magdi who served us the last few times was just simply excellent. We were greeted very politely with a big smile and attention to detail by Magdi was just excellent. He made sure we were happy with everything, recommended dishes we hadn’t tried before, explained the ingredients. An extremely polite man, knows his job and does it excellently. I will definitely be visiting more often in the future. Daniel

Very friendly staff , parking directly outside. We had a selection of starters which were all delicious and plentiful. The main course was lamb shish with rice and salad, also delicious. We had lemonade with mint so refreshing. We paid £65.00 for the entire meal which we thought was amazing value. Highly recommended and we will be back😀

I'm a regular customer here and love this restaurant. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced and the staff are always lovely. I genuinely think it's one of the best Lebanese I've had, and it's worth the money. Benn here about 4 times and hasn't failed me once. The platter is very worth it, so if you're in a group its a must! Today me and my friend went and ordered the platter for two, and it was enough for about 3 people.

Went for a shisha with friends and has been charged 48£ for 4 pots of tea, be aware tea made out of gold. Never again, total rip off.

Went there with my family of 6 ordered food and the food had hair inside told the staffs instead of exchanging it they accused us of putting the hair inside the food and cancelled our food and made me pay for something I didn't eat. Worst never ever going back there again. Used to be a regular customer. Very rude staffs.

Salt bar was full, we came here. Rude and past it man kept sighing when we ordered and payed, it’s ridiculous how unwelcoming they are. doesnt know how to deal with customers, clearly cant run a business. I think it’s quite clear why they only accept cash. I would suggest you dont come here

Found hair in the food, manager tried to deny it and claimed ‘he doesn’t have his glasses, so can’t see the hair’. Rude staff. Food ok.

Went with friends and asked for three seats. Staff offered table. Sat there and ordered mint tea with some baklava and then few other customers came for dinner. Owner approached us and asked us to leave as they don’t serve just mint tea with baklava unless we order meal !! Really!! Very greedy, rude and unprofessional.

Excellent authentic food! I was a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews but it is one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in Edgware Road.

Delicious Lebanese food, highly recommend the hummus, falafel and the tabouleh. Food is fresh and authentic. They also have a good selection of fresh juices. This is a great place for casual dining. Outside you can smoke Shisha.

This was our second visit. I must admit their excellent tasty food and service was consistence. My husband who appreciates good food could not get enough. The food was delicious, tasty, hot, and full of flavour. The portions are generous and reasonably priced for London....

I can’t believe how this only has 3 stars at the time of writing this review. There’s not many places I have gone to that I can honestly say that I am surprisingly surprised on how good it was and I happy to say this...

Unbelievable fast service. Big thanks to the big boss Ali or something similar. 2 shish taouks made in less than a minute at 11:30pm. Again huge thanks to this guy saving lives.

Average food. Although the Tanoor bread, our drinks (fresh limon with mint) and fattah qawurma were good, the rest of our food was average at best (2 shawarma plates, Arayes and a mixed grill)

Because the shisha place was outside and the door was open constantly, the inside of the restaurant got really cold really quickly. Pretty soon my food got cold but luckily I'm a quick eater.

I had the Sea bass with salad.. fresh orange juice.. all correct, good service. I will go back there eventually.

I attended this restaurant with a friend. We asked to sit in a corner booth as I was grieving for the loss of a cousin and my friend wanted privacy for us. The waiter abruptly said “sorry! we don’t have time to clean the table” and sat us at another table. I understand the time issue however the delivery could have been better. It took time to get anyone’s attention. Eventually we ordered and they got our drinks wrong but that can happen so we shrugged it off. We had ordered some starters (hummus, halloumi and sambousek) and a lamb cutlet platter to share. The starters came and a man in a suit just kept slamming the plates down almost in contempt. He looked like a manager. We were absolutely astounded! The chops were grilled to an inch of their life and incredibly dry. No sauces were offered and when we asked were given teeny amounts... a teaspoon amount in a cup...serviettes were missing on our table. I could go on but the service and food was the most disappointing element of the meal. The lamb sambousek had a teeny amount of filling and was hard to cut. Upon paying I gave the waiter our feedback and my friend said people go out to eat for the experience. He did try to apologise but I told him I wouldn’t recommend anyone or return. To be fair to him he tried to encourage us to return so they could offer us a better service however I declined. £37 for a poor meal and poor service feels like a rip off!

We’ve been coming here for years. It’s perhaps not as busy as all the Mahroushs but I think at times it’s better. Simple food done well. Good kibbeh too.

Really delicious and affordable Lebanese food. Good variety of choices . We ordered taboula and hummus for out starters, both will get thumps up from me. I ordered sheesh tawooq and my husband had Chicken Shawarma. My chicken cubes were juicy and succulent with a very generous portion. My husband wiped out his plate. The pricing is affordable and reasonable. They serve outdoors Sheesha as well. After asking for the bill, the waiter served us complementary freshly made Baklawa. Which was yummy. This is my favorite Lebanese restaurant in London.

We were out and about in the day and came across this place for our lunch/dinner. First looked at the menu outside and looked good and decided to go in. They sat us right down and gave a bowl of olives and peppers which were very good and few minutes later some bread that was very good and tasty. I had the mixed shawarma and hubby had kofta, with a side of rice to share, everything was so tasty. Other reviews said service was bad, not for us. The staff was very nice and prompt with the food. I would recommend this place and would go back.

They have good Lebanese cuisine, but they really need to improve service, staff is not friendly at all!

He tenido la peor experiencia ayer por la noche a las 8. 30 p. M. Yo y mis dos amigos fuimos allí por una shisha por primera vez y éramos 3 de nosotros. En el momento en que nos sentamos pedimos la shisha. Llegó muy rápido ya que empezamos a fumar durante 2 minutos, esperó y preguntó si queríamos pedir algo y en ese momento dijimos que estábamos bien por el momento. Él se irritó mucho y dijo: "lo que no vas a pedir", le respondimos que no, por el momento, y que él puede tomar el menú. Él trepó el menú en nuestra mesa y gritó que tenemos que pedir una bebida, ya que es el 3 de nosotros con una shisha. Me sorprendió su manera de hablar y la agresión hacia nosotros. Dije muy politely que teníamos que estar informados sobre esto cuando nos sentamos no ahora cuando ya tenemos la shisha delante de nosotros. Se llevó la shisha de la mano de mis amigos y me dijo que bien, sal fuera. Le pregunté si podía llamar al gerente y me mostró el camino para ir al restaurante y él estará allí. Cuando fui, el gerente me dijo al principio que ohtats bien, puedes sentarte, disfrutar de la shisha después de que él salió, ver qué mesa estábamos en el mesero, hablamos en árabe y creo que no sé qué (probablemente eso es 2 "3 de nosotros) el gerente me dijo que pidiera al menos un dribk por favor (ten en cuenta que solo estuvimos 4 minutos allí, y en un momento dado habríamos pedido algo para beber) le expliqué con calma que el problema no es pedirlo y está siendo ordenado ya que ni siquiera nos dijeron que tenían esta restricción, a donde sea que vayan hay restricciones para que 4 personas ordenen 2 shishas. Durante esta conversación llegamos a nuestra mesa, la esperada se volvió muy agresiva y sacó la shisha de la mano de mis amigos, agarró la shisha con una mano y la otra mano separó la mesa. Y dije: lo siento, Ahmed, no puedo, y fui. Me sorprendió que algo así pueda suceder. Estábamos 3 chicas unidas por un camarero pensando en su comportamiento agresivo que podríamos haber llamado a la policía. Había mucha gente alrededor y todos se dieron cuenta de lo que sucedió. La peor parte fue que en ese momento éramos las únicas mujeres y todo se sentía muy desagradable de que los hombres puedan tratar a las mujeres así en público. En solo 5 minutos de estar allí. Realmente espero que el propietario lea esto y se avergüence por su personal, ya que en ningún lugar de Londres se puede obtener un servicio tan deficiente. Nos agarramos a nuestras cosas y salimos sin que nadie se disculpara y nos sentimos mal, el abeto avergonzado de ser mujeres en un restaurante árabe que quería fumar shisha.

Our last visit was better than this time as the food was not as good. The waiter was good but forgot part of our order.

I went in the other day and ordered a lamb shawarma wrap and a side or rice. I was going to order a set meal but when I was told that the majority of then don't come with any side I decided not to as its a rip off at those prices. Many other places on Edgeware Road give you a choice of bread or rice with their main meals at that price. I didn't get any salad before I got my food as is usually the case with Lebanese restaurants on this road and had to ask for bread or here they gave me 2 pieces. Sauces also had to be requested with what seemed to be one of the managers telling me that you already have sauce in your food. The wrap was fine but having hummus in it was weird and the rice was average. I didn't get any free complimentary baklava at the end as you usually do, had to wait for ages to get my change back as they clearly thought I was going to leave a tip. I wouldn't recommend this place overall and won't be back here when I am next on Edgeware Road.

Visited there at dinner time. We were four and ordered dishes mix with fish, meat and vegetables. Food was yummy. The girl who served us were friendly and suggest us according to our taste.

Un soleado domingo por la tarde en Hyde Park y luego buscando un lugar para almorzar tarde y un corto paseo de distancia está de Edgware Road, con todas las opciones. Así el primer restaurante que encontrado es Al Dar que parece interesante y así vamos.

Visitamos aquí en el almuerzo del viernes, el lugar estaba muy tranquilo y la comida llegó muy rápido - caliente y fresco. El personal era encantador, nos dieron una trona y calentado la comida para bebés. Nuestro bebé era en realidad que hacen un ruido enorme y desastre, el personal era muy amable y educado, limpian la mesa y recogió sus juguetes. La comida era deliciosa, después nos dieron baclava en Thomas', que era una maravilla.

Très bon moment passé dans ce bon restaurant où se mélangent des plats libanais, syriens, irakiens... Beaucoup de choix et viande très bonne. De l’espace et un service au petit soin. Serveurs très sympas !

I visited this place with my friends on a Thursday night, we arrived without reservation and we were 13 , but they accommodate us quickly. The food was quickly served and everything was super tasty, they don't serve alcohol but they allowed us to bring it from outside and have it in the restaurant, the waiter was very nice with us and they even gave us some typical sweets at the end of the meal. I definitely would recommend this place !!

We went here for dinner and had a really excellent meal. It was a Thursday evening quite busy but not full. We had some starters of Hommos Beruit style and Falafal, then a dish of the day (a chicken and rice dish) and Aubergine dish with rice, all very delicious. Also the fruit juices were really tasty, and they gave us some complimentary house desert. The service was good and friendly and the price was very fair and not expensive at all.

I have being visiting al dar for more than 10 years and never had a problem with either food quality or service. We visited the restaurant today and it was something out of a comedy show. We sad down by a gentleman looks to be the manager/owner and we where given the menus. As I knew what to order, I call one of the waiters. I ask for the Set Menu for four (maximum four people) - £70.00

Having read mixed reviews, I decided to give it a try. So many middle eastern restaurants on the Edgware Road to choose from, I thought it was ok. Food was actually quite nice but service was slow and not particularly friendly. Would not return.

Es mi error por no mirar los comentarios primero de todo. Sin embargo, este lugar es una auténtica broma, dirigido por árabes sexistas que me dijeron que no hablan a las mujeres, y sólo puedo pedir. Debo acabo y dejar, realmente lamento no hacerlo. El servicio es un circo completo, se olvidaron de 3 de los platos ordenados, y la mayoría de los menú no está realmente disponible. Mientras me quejo de otros tres mesas se levantó y comenzó quejándose así sobre servicio y tener que esperar más de 45 minutos para la comida. Por favor, evitar a toda costa

Nos encontramos con un viejo amigo y nos fuimos a almorzar en al-Dar ii, justo enfrente de la Galería Saachi en Londres. Había cuatro de nosotros y llegamos a la calle. El personal era muy eficiente y el menú era fácil de tratar. Dos de nosotros elegimos la mía era un pollo platos shawarma cordero y la combinación/otros era directamente de pollo. Mi shawarma era muy abundante y delicioso. Los otros dos comensales eligió la ensalada libanesa y el Moujadarra.

Este restaurante si el derecho uno es ahora llamado Canare que no puedo encontrar en tripadvisor. Visitamos la semana pasada nuestro grupo de 9. Tuvimos una gran variedad de entrantes y platos principales. . . caliente, sabroso y abundante. Houmius schwarma, mezclado, parrillas, mujaddara. El servicio era excelente, la generosidad con extra encurtidos. Teníamos una mesa larga en la parte trasera y todos disfrutamos de nuestras comidas. El camarero nos sorprendió dándonos 2 raciones de fruta fresca y baklava, que era un toque maravilloso al final de nuestra comida. Altamente recomendado y volveremos.

Firstly, the staff were not welcoming. Secondly, the place was hot and stuffy, no sort of ventilation. Thirdly, the food wasn't very nice. The shawarma was very dried up. I wouldn't come here again. Also, very pricey.

Last time visited this place was over 10 years ago when was just started going down hill. Seen it all refurbishef got encouraged and had lunch with the family. Shawarma meatvwas full of hard overcooked pieces and very salty as to cover the taste of meat. Chips bowl had a layer of fresh cooked potatoes andvtge rest was re cooked. Never again. P.S. the toilet still as horrible as it always been. This place will never be the same. This place should be checked by someone for its toilet cleanliness.

We went for a late lunch with family (6 adults and 1 small child) in the last week of May. The service was very prompt as the host came to our table within seconds and distributed menus which is unusual because at most places on Edgeware Road we would normally wait for a few minutes before anyone approached us.We ordered Hommos and Falafel for starters and were quite surprised by the quantity. It was definitely worth the money as the Hommos was served not with pita bread but with three large size naans.For our main course we ordered two chicken shawarma platters (one with rice the other with chips) and four chicken shawarma sandwiches. All the food was very wellprepared and the sandwich wraps were very succulent. As we were all very full we did not order any dessert or juices but on their menu they have a very good selection of both (fresh juices include orange, mango, apple, melon, fruit cocktail juice , strawberry , pineapple, carrot, pomegranate and avocado juice)The service and quality of the food as well the environment in the restaurant were allterrific. Would definitely recommend as a great place for Middle Eastern (Lebanese, Arab) food for couples and large parties. Our bill for the whole meal and tip came to a little over 60 pounds. So in my opinion it was not too pricey but just right.

I came here with my sister, and got raw lamb. When I told the staff it was raw he found it funny. The manager did not applogise and was very rude and aggressive. Please avoid the place at all costs. Not worth the hassle

I was eating here and reviewed this restaurant in 2014, thought I'd give it another try - it's been 2 years, maybe there's been some improvements. Some of the food has indeed improved, the Moutabel (see pic) has definitely improved and is now equal to the quality of other restaurants on Edgeware Rd, however the Hommos with Lamb (see pic) was still disappointing, dry and pasty not enough (if any) Tahini mixed in but the lamb was ok - not "wow" but actually better than it was previously. The Kibbeh (see pic) have improved too, with more flavour and care put into them than before but the Cheese Sambousek (see pic) and Lamb Sambousek (see pic) are still the worst I've ever had. They are still pre-made and then heated in the microwave before serving. They are rubbery, the filling inside is unpalatable and we couldn't eat more than one each. It's been 2 years and they still can't get this right, so maybe it's best for them to cut their losses and remove them from the menu.The fruit cocktail was the clear outstanding winner 2 years ago and it still is, so delicious we ordered 2 each which we also did 2 years ago! The service has improved dramatically now and your every need is seen to without having to chase a waiter down. Congratulations Aldar for making some positive improvements to your restaurant, hopefully you will get rid of your ongoing negatives that you can't seem to do better. I would normally have given this restaurant 2 stars for our food experience, but because of the improvements I have given it an extra star.

I've been to several restaurants on the Edgware Road and this is by far my favourite. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is friendly. My advice is to share dishes especially main courses as they are huge.

Every time we travel to London for the day we finish by visiting al-dar, and I am quiet surprise when people post negative comments as on all my visit to this restaurant where more than satisfactory, good size portions, food tasty and above all clean.Well done Rabia and team

I am a frequent visitor to Al-Dar (the food is okay, quite average), and while the staff haven't always been particularly nice, this time it was beyond ridiculous. The restaurant wasn't too busy on a Saturday night so we decided to go in for tea, drinks and light food. I told the waiter that we would not be eating main food and he then told us to leave. I was quite taken aback by this, especially considering it wasn't busy! Will not be returning.

They had higher prices surprisingly on new yeats eve. Not very busy that we had to queue or anythjng but food came cold and lacked quality.Have been before so took a couple friends to find the quality had dropped.Appauling service in general.Changed my mind to go here next time.

Overpriced cafe which treats customers as an inconvenience. Our food arrived cold when I pointed it out it was taken away without explanation when I asked about its replacement it arrived!Far better places on the same road.

The lamb was very hard and it was just...stinky. The portion was huge, everything looked promising till I tried it. It wasn't possible to eat, old meat, prepared in a tragic way.

I have to say I'm quite surprised by the negative reviews. I have visited this place twice and on both occasions found the service to be fast and friendly, and the food to be tasty. Maybe it depends what you order from the menu.I would definitely recommend the beiruti hummus and mixed grill.

I visited London and a friend recommended Al Dar, went in and after much discussion with the waiter we were recommended a dish. We were told it was infused with spices and and some real flavour, but when it arrived it was to the contrary. No taste, very bald meat, no spices, just fried rice with flavours lamb on top, it was like something from a buffet, was very disappointed to pay somewhere around £15 for a plate with No Quality, it was a big plate, just Quantity but No Quality which was a shame.

I ordered a mixed shawarma , chicken and lamb, with rice. The chicken and lamb both came back pink. I spoke to the waiter and told him it was pink. Instead of him suggesting he takes it back to recook the meat or just get me a new one, he proceeded to try and convince me it was cooked and it was simply the seasoning. I told him i will not eat this raw food and he walked away from the table. The manager came 10 minutes later to say he'll replace my food but by that time my friends had nearly finished. Just overall a very bad experience, awful staff and raw food. Will never go back.

In between meetings stopped for a quick grape mint Sheesha and some mint tea. Both were great. Quick service friendly staff and constant refills of coal kept the Sheesha buzzing for an hour. Well covered so one doesn't feel the cold wind as in other restaurants. Will definitely return for dinner or lunch soon.

Hubby didn't want to go in but I did. he said the service was lousy and I said the food was great - we were both right! The staff are aloof, some surly and some just downright rude and unhelpful. While I don't start getting fidgety until about five minutes, as a rule, it was a full 15 minutes before I managed to catch anyone's eye to make an order. In that time I'd craned my neck, tried to nod, raise my eyebrows, give a knowing smile, bob and sway and in the end waved my arms like a drowning person. The restaurant wasn't busy either - we were the only ones seated. Hubby sat there saying "I told you so". The food, when it arrived was wonderful - tabouleh fresh, chicken livers cooked just right, bread fresh for dipping in to the tasty houmus. The chicken shwarma was delightful but the whole affect had been ruined because of the poor service. The bill was also rather pricey - £37.49 for a few Lebanese snacks. I will not be returning until the service improves - waiters with attitude are in the wrong job. This is not Downton Abbey - it's Edgware Road for heaven's sake!

Autentica cucina libanese, confermata anche dalla presenza di avventori di questo paese.Buono l'Halloumi cheese caldo servito con pane libanese ( una specie di chapati tiepido), zuppa di lenticchie un po' troppo liquida, l'hommos (pure' di ceci con pasta di sesamo e limone) e insalata fattuosh con rapanelli e semi di melograno

Very good Libanese restaurant. Excellent kebabs and hummos, good falafel. Everything was tasty and well made, perhaps a little bit "lemony" for my taste, but good. Prices are absolutely reasonable. Good service too.

Went last night to have dinner with a friend visiting London. We had to go to this place because it the only place that had the Chelsea game on. We enjoyed the game but the food and service were below standard. The humous and tabula were ordinary. The meat shawarma I ordered was shockingly disgusting!!! I did it even try to taste it, meat was black and fatty. I pointed to the gentleman at the resturant that this shawarma is not good to offer to customers. He just ignored my comment and removed the plate which was full, showing that I didn't eat it. I recommend that people going there to avoid the meat they prepare. If you had to go then just eat Humous and vegis.

Sunday afternoon and plenty of customers, a good sign when trying somewhere new. Very welcoming staff and offer a good choice of food, which was cooked fresh, very tasty and filling! Also good value.Worth a visit if in the area and made a nice change from the major chains.

Yes, the food is really good but the service kills it.There are plenty of Labaneze restaurant on this road so I will try the others first before coming back here. The place is clean and relatively comfortable. Unfortunately the waiters are not too attentive. I felt like they want me leave when I still wanted to order a coffee.

Just before Christmas 3 friends and I went for dinner here after work - the others had tried Lebanese food before, but I hadn’t! We had a huge array of food with amazing starters and mains! The fresh meat and veg etc is so nice with the hummus and halloumi being my favourite! We finished with trying some of the cocktails that are fresh and different! The staff are attentive and polite and had friendly chats with us after our dinner! – If you check out their facebook page I’m pretty sure there is an offer running (if not I’m sure there will be more soon!)

After reading previous trip advisor reveiws we weren't expecting much! But I was definitely pleasantly suprised.... The food come out quickly and tasted great! The service was all friendly and helpful! I love Lebanese food and will definitely be making my way back! It's a hidden gem! Definitely worth going there! You won't be dissapointed!

I was slightly put off by the bad reviews but I love Lebanese food and after seeing some adverts on Facebook I thought I'd pop in. Portion sizes were rather large and the food was tasty. I felt full but didn't leave feeling fat. Had some gorgeous hummus and a chicken skewer as a main with a fresh salad.Don't be put off by the reviews, the food is incredible. Will be returning back during my January diet!

A lot of places to eat a Shawarma on Edgware Road. We had the Lamb Sharma and found them a little greasy but still ate the lot. My wife complained that the her Falafel was cold inside and they changed them with no fuss at all, with piping hot ones at no extra cost. Drinks are quite expensive!

We love Lebanese food and what better place for this then Edgware Road. Picked this place as it was full and looked fresh. Starters took a long time to arrive and it should have quick as it was ready to serve etc. Main course was appalling for both of us. Two different dishes, chips were dry and felt plastic like, blistered my mouth when ate some!! The chicken was uncooked, no flavour! Asked if they could replace it... His reply was its meant to be that way! My partners dish had some colour and looked appetising, had a bite and was horrid. Paid for food which was wasted! Never again!!!!

This was a nice place, quite welcoming, good surroundings and service. The food was a little hit and miss though, from really excellent Foul Madames, good coffee to run of the mill falafel and non-descript bread. We would probably give them another go at some point though.

We ordered food and had to wait 45 minutes before we were served with old rice and awful old MIXED SHAWARMA. It was so difficult to chew the food. I complained about the food and the management didn't even pay attention to what was I saying. I would strongly not recomend to anyone.

Please ignore the bad reviews! I visited this restaurant on many occasions as the food is always super delicious and fresh. Yes Ok, it's not Michelin so don't expect fabulous service but the food is always super tasty and fresh and prices are ok too.I will certainly keep coming back.

We visited one Friday night, the restaurant had a few customers and was not full. We walked in and were not acknowledged and made to feel uncomfortable and perhaps unwanted as the waiters buzzed about around us, there was no acknowledgement from anyone, even a simple hello we will be right with you would have sufficed. After several minutes we decided to leave and go to Beirut Express which was more busy but we were greeted immediately. Avoid

per molti anni questo ristorante è stato il nostro preferito a londra (leggete l'altra mia recensione), tanto è vero che due sere prima di aver ricevuto questa enorme amara delusione eravamo di nuovo seduti qui a cenare ottimamente. sabato sera invece, in quattro, siamo arrivati con nostro nipote sceso da manchester a farci visita ed a cui avevamo parlato benissimo di questo posto. Una volta arrivati ci è stato detto detto che non c'era posto sopra quindi siamo stati accompagnati giù. sappiamo che al piano inferiore c'è un altro ristorante chiamato dar bagdad ma che appartiene sempre a loro. il menù è diverso ed i prezzi sono più alti. abbiamo chiesto di poter ordinare i piatti di al-dar (dalla cucina del ristorante del piano superiore) ed il manager in persona, mentre redarguiva a voce alta e con un tono aggressivo questo e quel cameriere, ci assicurò che non ci sarebbe stato nessun problema. abbiamo ordinato un antipasto grande vegetariano di mezzes che due sere prima abbiamo pagato £ 10.99 ma poi scoprirò in seguito che quella sera, solo quarantotto ore dopo, mi è costato £ 14.50.(£ 3.51 in più). l'antipasto buono è accompagnato da un ottimo pane cotto al momento, tipo carasau, che nel menù sul loro sito costa £ 0.50 cadauno. Ne abbiamo ordinato tre ma pagheremo £ 6 (£ 4.50 in più). Poi abbiamo preso 3 shawarma misti ( £ 11.99 l'uno ma ce li faranno pagare £ 14.50 sempre cadauno, quindi £ 7.53 in più) e qui sono iniziati i problemi. dopo una decina di minuti è risceso il manager dicendoci che gli shawarma di pollo erano terminati e che sarebbero riusciti solo a ricavarne due porzioni. gli abbiamo detto che avremmo preso due misti ed uno di montone. quando sono arrivati, dopo una buona mezz'ora, erano freddi e nel piatto di mio nipote c'era anche un capello. prontamente abbiamo chiamato il manager e con molto garbo e a voce bassissima gli abbiamo fatto notare lo spiacevole inconveniente oltre a chiedergli di riscaldarci i piatti. abbastanza incredulo e quasi scocciato, senza un minimo di scuse, nè di sorrisi, se ne è tornato su con i piatti. dopo una decina di minuti è tornato giù e ci ha servito gli stessi sempre senza scusarsi, nè un sorriso. mio figlio gli ha fatto notare che il piatto suo era una massa di carne appallottolata, come se fosse stata riscaldata al microonde e con molto garbo gli ha detto che eravamo vecchi clienti e che eravamo dispiaciuti e spiazzati da quel servizio poco professionale. egli, per tutta risposta, in modo furioso ha iniziato a farneticare dicendo che non avrebbe più servito nostro figlio. l'ho preso quindi di lato ed ho cercato con molta calma di farlo ragionare dicendogli che eravamo clienti di vecchia data e che purtroppo avrebbe dovuto ammettere che il servizio non era perfetto quella sera. ha ammesso che essendo sabato sera ed il locale strapieno i nostri piatti erano stati messi sul bancone e lui li aveva visti e portati giù ecco perchè si erano raffreddati. essendo ormai il clima un po' surriscaldato mentre i piatti assolutamente non più commestibili gli ho chiesto di prepararmi il conto. da bere abbiamo preso un tè alla menta (niente foglie fresche come altrove ma una semplice bustina) a £ 2.50 (niente rincari sul tè) e due bottiglie di acqua minerale: una frizzante a £ 3 ma pagata £ 3.75 ed una naturale £ 3 ma pagata £ 3.50. Costo reale £ 56.96 ma abbiamo pagato £ 73.75 , ben £ 16.79 in più. Il problema è che ovviamente non ricordando i prezzi a memoria nel momento in cui ho pagato non ho pensato che oltre al danno avremmo subito anche la beffa. Solo una volta fuori ho scoperto l'amara sorpresa ma ormai il dado era tratto. Mai più! Mai! Mai! Mai! Avrebbe lui invece dovuto farci uno sconto per il terribile servizio ricevuto o chiesto scusa o accennato un sorriso o dato una stretta di mano. Con la coda dell'occhio, mentre lo salutavo, ho visto che aveva semplicemente lasciato sul tavolo un piattino con tre mini-dolcetti, a mio figlio aveva espressamente detto che non l'avrebbe servito. Ovviamente sono restati lì, Mi dispiace manager ma non si lavora così, capisco il sabato sera, capisco che ad una certa età è difficile lavorare sia con il personale sia con i clienti a causa dello stress e della stanchezza e forse bisognerebbe farsi da parte oppure contare fino a dieci prima di rispondere ma non si lavora proprio così soprattutto a londra dove i veri manager sono molto attenti, cortesi e corretti nei ristoranti!!!

I have been there with a friend for trial of small dishes, late breakfast. We ordered eggs they did not have, we ordered a few hot mezza plates, all tast greasy and bland with no relevance to the real good quality of Lebanese kitchen. Even the salad was below expectations.The service is slow and far from attentive. The setting is average for a quick meals. I would be reluctant to go there becouse of the above issues. I hope they realise that people knows the difference between average food and high quality food.

My friend and I went after work on Monday... The place has recently been revamped... and considering the last time a mouse ran over my foot... it was about time! WE ordered Hommus, Chicken Wings, 2 Mixed Grills and 2 Fresh lemonades... It was lovely! EXPENSIVE THOUGH, but everything on Edgware Road is... Will probably be returning soon..

I've been a customer here for years - but the last few times I have been, the food and service have not been as good as previously. On my last visit they refused to serve me tap water (despite having had no problem doing this before). We also had difficulty attracting the attention of the waiter several times. The food was not as tasty and the portion sizes were smaller. I will not be going back.

We were looking for a night out, dinning after a day spent at the Zoo. Instead we left the restaurant with a very bad experience. Ordered a vegetarian dish, made of aubergine. I love aubergine and had tested the dish before but this time it was gone...well it was not good to eat and anybody could smell it was gone. My partner tasted some and realised it was gone. Could not force ourself to eat something that could make you sick. Told the waiter, who ignored us and said it was done the afternoon. Then a waitress we spoke too earlier took it away after we told her to taste it so she could understand the taste was not right, as the waiter had ignored us.My partner spoke to another who offered something else but already put off by the taste of the dish I declined. Once everybody finish eating, the restaurant owner insisted that we paid for the dish that nobody could eat as it was gone.We paid to avoid further arguments. She said you did not like it....totally different to what happened, her dish was good for the bin, it was past date. She even said it was done the day before and could not possibly be gone. It is very disappointing that you glare forced to pay for a dish you could not eat! Real crooks.

Their bbq has to be the best and the most juiciest out there. We tried their sheesh tauq and baby chicken bbq and it was a treat for our taste buds! Their special tandoor naan (bread) is to die for but its not on the menu so make sure you ask for it. The service was okay and the cafe itself isnt that posh looking either.

I came here a few years ago, was a reliable last minute lebanese food option, simple and tasty with good customer service. Great for when all plans in london failWent here on Saturday night was so disappointed shocking.We were served by an elderly man who was just outright rude and moody from the offset. Whilst taking our order in haste we almost lectured one of my friends on a difference between homouss, and houmus wrap ! Yes that's right folks it was the wrap! , we all ordered our bits , took a very long time, for one of my friends orders, 20 mins, at this point my other friend was notified that the mixed grill he ordered was not available! This was 20 mins after initially ordering! To which he asked for a wrap, politely not making a fuss, after which he was given mixed shawarma on a plate with some lettuce was just awful, my kofte wrap had still not come now, 30 mins now, we had remind him about our other orders, my kofte did come in the end has after 35 minutes I told them to leave it, the younger waiter accepted and apologised, five minutes later the older guy came up with the wrap in my face and forced me to accept I said no, to which he took offence to which I saw him share his disapproval of my rejection with much distaste with his colleagues.Won't go here ever again, all the people there were looking glum and waiting on orders was terrible.Avoid it go beirut express instead it's across the road
