Akasaka in Milton Keynes

Just perfect . Ten of us went for a birthday celebration and each meal was delicious and enjoyed ( we all rated this place so much - had to write a review ) . Service was brilliant , will definitely go back !

Fantastic food and service! Have been wanting to try this place for a while now and it did not disappoint! Lovely ambience and friendly staff! Can’t wait to come again! Food was delicious for both me and my partner. Vegetarian options were also great!

I ordered a take away for collection. I was told it would be 20 minute wait but it was only 10 minutes. I sat and waited as I did not mind. It was empty in the restaurant, only one couple arrived for dinner. It was very cold and I would not have wanted to dined in. The food was tasty. Unfortunately by the time I had got home with my take away I noticed my side salad missing and no salt on the edamame. Great food overall, but items shouldn’t be missing for a simple one person order.

If you love Sushi/Sashimi, definitely this place is right for you. Small, great service and food. A bit expensive but worth it, they make it to order, so it does take time to arrive on the table, the fish are so thick but soft, melts on your tongue. My advice is to book, if you what to go, as they only have 30 seatings. My boyfriend and daughter have been here a few times but this was my first time and will not be my last.

We booked, and then read the last couple of reviews here and wondered what our night would be like.. Well, we can happily say that any issues with cold or service were invisible to us. The restaurant appeared to have taken note of the previous reviews and had made sure there was heating and the restaurant was warm. We were able to choose where we would like to sit and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food we ordered was excellent, the telling pont was my partner ponting out I was attempting to eat every tiny iota from my plate with chopsticks. - I was just focused on trying to make sure I didn't miss out on a single tasty morsel! Service was cheerful, knowledgable and attentive during the meal but not overbearing at all, and responsive when needed - no haplessly trying to catch anyones eye, they were discretely paying attention and responded immediately when we wanted anything. Overall a very enjoyable, unrushed and relaxed experience. Will definitely be going again!

We have been regular diners here for some years. Never had an issue but, unfortunately, tonight has put us off going back again. We booked but were seated right by the door. I was a bit apprehensive as it's a very cold night but thought we would be looked after and maybe it would be OK. I was wrong. The restaurant was so cold I and my husband had to eat in our coats and still, I was shivering all the way through our meal. I asked the waitress if we could be moved as there were a few empty tables . We were told no and told maybe sitting side by side would help! I used the ladies facilities and it was absolutely freezing in there. This is not good enough frankly. My husband ordered a second beer and had to ask again 15 minutes later and they weren't busy enough to warrant the delay. Our last course we waited 30 minutes (30 very cold minutes that is) I have come home not only cold to the core but extremely disappointed at the decline in service and ambiance we experienced today. Can we please have the old service back because unless it is returned we won't be. Came home and saw another review about the cold so thus isn't a one off.

I went to Akasaka many years ago, what can I say, amazing food , great service and an all in all great night. However I returned this evening with much excitement..what can I say? ..freezing cold temperature inside. We had to eat our 'not cheap' food in scarfs and a coat and all of the other tables had coats on too. We mentioned this to staff who made a pointless attempt to turn the heating up. At one point I had to pull my jumper sleeves over my hands to warm them up. The food was great but obviously went cold in seconds...such a shame that the sheer coldness of this establishment ruined the entire experience. Upon paying the bill I commented to the waitress about how cold it was in there...reply; " yes it is cold this time of year." Yes outside for sure, hence why we fork out to go and eat in what should be nicely heated establishments..What a tiny error that could have made the experience soo much better

We went here last night and the food was amazing, three of us went my husband daughter and my self, we tried the Yakisoba and sashimi, the staff were very helpful and so friendly in a professional way. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely go back

Brilliant decor. Great service. Piping hot food. Great flavours. It was all fab. Would recommend to anyone. Good prices too and big portions.

I will admit that the prices here have gone up reasonably significantly and the bill is markedly higher compared to pre-Covid, but this restaurant is one of the few places where I really don't mind - I'm happy to pay for the experience. We've been a few times since the rules were relaxed and it's still at the top of our list. I will admit to being completely biased because we all love Japanese stuff generally in our house, but even so I don't think I'm over-stating anything by saying this place is fantastic. The service is always lovely, despite the menu not changing very much there's still a difficulty in choosing what to have, we always have a good time and the kids (well, 16 and 19 now...) love it. It's become their go-to (when dad offers to pay!). One of the best things about the place is the consistency. It was a tiny bit shaky when the Covid rules were finally relaxed, but it's back to the well-oiled kitchen that we knew pre-pandemic - you always know what you're getting.

Good customer service, good fresh food but wouldn’t go again, think there are better restaurants around. Also, I wouldn’t say it’s a great place to be sat in.

This is a quaint restaurant, not too many tables. Highly recommend booking a table. Service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and delicious. Not too many vegetarian options for sushi but there are starters and other dishes. We’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints. It’s quite a drive about 40 mins from is but it’s worth it. This is my go to place for Japanese food.

We have been here before, quite a few times, but have not been for a couple of years. We went this evening and were really impressed. The food was incredible, and the service outstanding; it seems like this place has really stepped up a notch! We were even offered some tasters of Korean wine which was really interesting. We ended up having a few rounds of sushi and then finishing with some tempura. Fantastic! Cannot wait to return.

What a brilliant way to start the evening! Excellent food and brilliant customer service. Hope to be back again sometime in the future.

Ordered 4 appetisers and a bottle of wine, each was extremely overpriced, burnt, tasteless or had paper stuck to it and the house wine was terrible. We ordered a main that we cancelled after having the appetisers. Wouldn’t recommend

Been to a few Japanese restaurants and this is utterly genius. Soft shell crab is better than Nobu FACT. Customer service is amazing. A fabulous experience.

Cant wait to visit this restaurant again. Their take-away has been a great treat all the way through lock-down and they have kept the standard just as high if you were eating in.

Second visit to Akasaka and it was so good - again! Tasty starters, incredible mains and the mochi ice cream balls were so good! The server was fantastic and we felt very COVID safe x

This was our first visit, though we have been meaning to try Akasaka for some time .. we weren’t disappointed.. the food was cooked well, presented cleanly & the depth of flavour awesome. We can’t wait to go again. We were very impressed with their social distancing measures .. service was excellent. The staff were very personable, approachable, polite & efficient. Bloody hell, if you want fresh Japanese or Sushi, you must try this place, and what's better, all 3 (I think there are now) are all as good as each other, eat in or take out.The range and quality is incredible! You cannot go wrong! Plus + try the wines! Blackberry, plum... The choice of sake, this place is fan-tastic

The nicest sushi in the area for sure! We also had some hot dishes that were full of flavour and portions were huge! Highly recommend this little gem, I am yet to try the CMK one.

fantastic all round, food tastes where amazing, not much to say really 10/10. make sure you book as small seating area. easy parking out the front and very nice surrounding. Has A/C also for hot days which its a bonus

Service is always very good when we dine in , been going here for years and the food is amazing packed with punches of flavour! We have had quite a few takeaways during lockdown , the food always comes fast and hot and tastes just as good as when you dine in. Definitely recommend for Nut allergy sufferers like myself , they don't really use nuts in the cooking and I have a very severe allergy and have happily been eating here for years .

Could not order take out at Wolverton but MK Akasaka was open, whoopee! Phoned our order through and advised 20 mins before pick up, mouth already salavating! Picked up safely, 20 minutes later. Starter and main, absolutely delicious Restaurant quality and flavour but in LOCKDOWN, life doesn't get much better They had literally thought of every little detail, wish we'd thought of ordering earlier! No holding us back now, thank you so much for making takeaway an absolute breeze

Great service, the waitress was very helpful and our food was quick to arrive. The sushi is really nice and we always make a point of stopping here if we're going to be in the area. We will definitely be back!

We had a great meal here and will definitely be coming back. It's a small place so make sure that you book if you want to get in on a weekend. Some people have said that they had to wait a long time for food but we did not think that was the case. It's not one of those places where the food is warmed up and is ready in a few minutes, it is freshly prepared and worth the wait. Really good tasty food.

Recently went for a meal here with two friends, The food was lovely, the dumplings to start a a must, I had the spicy chicken as a main and it really was very nice. Restaurant was a little cold hence the 4 stars but apart from the lovely meal. Thank you

I have been going to Akasaka Wolverton since it first opened and it has only gotten better! When the Central MK restaurant opened, it was bigger but I still prefer Wolverton. Its more intimate and we are treated so well by all the staff, especially Thierry. They know exactly how we like our food and are most accommodating to my vegetarian desires. CMK chefs don't have that personal touch. We ❤️ Akasaka Wolverton!!!!

Makes the most of being a small venue, it is quiet and has attentive staff. The food is always very good, and the prices reasonable.

I visited here for my birthday with friends, I am a vegetarian and had the aubergine for starter and I haven't stopped thinking about it since! The staff were lovely and attentive, we had a brilliant time!

What a lovely place to have a dinner with friends and family. I have a beef bibimbap, generous portion with well seasoned beef and ingredients. Lovely small family run restaurant.

We absolutely love this restaurant and had thought it was going to shut down because of Leasing problems but they sorted it. We went there last night and it didn't go well so we hope this was just a 'one off'. We ordered our food and then watched 4 takeaway orders go out the door before we got ours. That was like watching a table who arrived after you had put your order in, get their food first. Our starters came out at different times and my squid was warm. We asked the waiter why 4 takeaway took priority over seated customers when there should have been a 'balance' at least! We were also nearly forgotten when we tried to pay because they were busy making sure a 'delivery' got out of the door. We could not be more pleased that they are busy but try to get some balance in your service.

Absolutely cannot fault the food on our visits here. It’s beautiful, very tasty and freshly prepared. However, service can be a bit hit and miss. For example, slow with drinks orders, not asking if you’d like another drink, not coordinating arrival of starters etc. If this was tightened up, then it would be a definite 5 star.

This was our first sushi restaurant experience and we were happy. The food was tasteful and seemed fresh. The service was good. As we were rookies, the menu didn’t offer enough visual or written explanations for us to be better informed on what to choose. We will probably go again but not sure.

We came here because we heard it was closing down and had heard good things about the restaurant and wanted to experience it. We enjoyed a lovely meal and the food was brilliant - although the selection of beers seemed a little pricy.

Tiny little restaurant serving up delicious Japanese food. I recommend the sushi and really going to town with your choices. They do take away too! Much better than the one at the city centre, although that is good too!

We have visited Akasaka in Wolverton several times.

The first and original Akasaka. Nice authentic food with Japanese chefs. Small and cosy with not your run of the mill Japanese chain resto items on the menu. A bit on the pricy side but you get what you pay for. Use this one rather than the big one in the city. The food is better ,cooked with care and tastes lovely. Oh and park in Lidle across the street if you can't find parking as its free for two hours

Absolutely amazing food, came here with a group of friends for a birthday meal. The food was full of flavour and the portions were just right. The service was good, waiters and waitress were very friendly professional, they gave good recommendations for tasty dishes. Will definitely be back again. Love this hidden gem.

Akasaka in Wolverton is about 40 minutes drive from our home, however it's worth the drive. Even to pick up a take away. Our recent order was picked up and eagerly driven back home, only to find that part of the order was sadly missing. After a short and very polite phonecall, the missing items were actually driven to us, with complementary extras. This level of service is above and beyond and sadly missing from many competitors. A big thumbs up, and thank you!

While there are some very nice items on the menu some of the dishes especially mains now seem very overpriced and formulaic for what’s on the plate. £12.50 for chicken teriyaki is basically four largish marinaded fried pieces of chicken breast on a mound of bean sprouts in a sauce with the obligatory bowl of rice. £17.50 for the beef version? Oh and the dessert photography on the menu exaggerates the portion sizes, the fantastica is less than fantastica in real life.

The restaurant was fairly cosy however first the food came late and second my it didn’t come as I had ordered. In general it was not any better than the usual asian chains but more expensive. For some reasons our clothes were smelling asian food after the dinner in a way that we had to wash them all. I don’t rate this place any more than 2/5.

Highly recommend this fantastic little restaurant. Service was outstanding. Food was Devine. Considering the size of our group, our host took all our orders correctly, he was very polite and attentive and we didn’t have to wait to long for our delicious feast, thank you Alaska you did not disappoint

The food is delicious, the atmosphere is calm thanks to the dim and relaxing lighting. The servers are good at what they do and are more than welcome to explain the menu in more detail which is useful since I don't understand all of the asian dishes' names.

Food is great, decor is great, music is great (Korean drama nostalgia galore) and the staff are incredible. They are so kind and friendly. I will return for these beautiful people alone.

We had late lunch on Mother's Day. Not so good food (very greasy and unauthentic) and well over priced. Crowded tables, very slow and unprofessional service (plus the wait or gave us the wrong bill). -- 5 hours after the meal, both of my sons (who ordered same spicy chicken and rice) got stomach ache and felt sick. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE AGAIN!!!

Very small dinning room however don’t let this spoil the nice ambient lightning and good service. (Just book in advance to avoid disappointment ) if you like fresh sushi this is the place but also many other options on the menu so don’t be put off if raw fish isn’t your thing. Great for vegetarians. I had on this occasion the Katsu curry which was splendid. I personally would like to see more hot options for mains like other curry’s. But if you want a more authentic Wagamamas this is your place.

We went as a family and enjoyed a great variety of dishes, sharing between us from sushi to tempura. A fun night because you can taste lots of different dishes rather than looking at the next person's plate and thinking "Why didn't I order that" You will enjoy the variety - we did!!!

Ive just order for collection. The new app doesn’t let me make the order so I’ve called and they have messed the order up. Different dishes and also wanted to charge for the drinks they were included on the menu.

Another great meal. Seafood ramen is to die for. My wife ordered spicy seafood yakisoba but was served with plain seafood yakisoba. Perhaps it would be a better idea for staff to repeat the order once taken to ensure there is no misunderstanding or miscommunication to avoid the above? Akasaka CMK.

As always very good japanese. It has grown and it has changed a little bit but it is still one of my favourite from the area-! Keep up your essence !

Excellent value lunch menu. Recommend sharing the tempura+sushiroll main as a starter between two. Yasai katsu curry and tonkatsu pork mains were lovely and came with free gyoza on the side.

We came here to celebrate my sons birthday and all three of us loved the decor and comfortable chairs as we wandered through the menu. Nice choice of Japanese and Korean beers and wide range if drinks. Food was delicious: katsu curry yakisoba and beef teriyaki were superb. Will come again for sure. Thank you.

I looked for romantic places on TripAdvisor and this is what my partner and I were into. We were greeted by friendly staff and the atmosphere was really nice. Food was beyond expectations and great for the price. Would definitely revisit again, and again!!

Each time I have visited Akasaka I've never been disappointed, love the restaurant in Central Milton Keynes but can't beat Wolverton for the intimate atmosphere, always a great meal!

The first time I have ever been here and I absolutely adored it. I will be a very regular customer from now on and the food was Devine. Well priced, exquisite tasting food and a grate experience from a lovely frount of house team. I have never had sushi before and now I’m a fan! Great place would highly recommend!!!

If you want to try something different, come to Akasaka. The food is always excellent and the staff helpful in guiding you around the menu. Truely good food and a great evening out.

I can't believe I have not eaten here before, it's a three minute drive from my house. I have just had the soft shell crab and the chicken ramen. I am a seafood obsessive, the crab was excellent. The ramen was good but not spectacular. I will definitely be back for more seafood.

I have been here several times, and every visit is consistently good. The food is delicious, well cooked and the portions are good sized. There are lots of vegetarian options, and options for if you want a dish spicy or not.

We’ve been to Akasaka before for the last three years and we still find it one of the best (if not the best) restaurant in Milton Keynes. In terms of ambience and food quality!

We have been customers for years and we have always found great Japanese food, friendly and impeccable staff and very reasonable prices, especially during the week, where a great value set menu is offered

Not my first visit to Akasaka, but they keep serving the same haute Japanese cuisine once and again, today I was particularly surprised by one of the appetisers, spicy tuna and salmon (first pic), so simple and so yummy at the same time!

We usually get takeaway but treated ourselves to a meal out and the food, as usual, was great. Service also very good, never left waiting for long. Highly recommended

The restaurant's decor and attention to detail is exemplary, especially compared to other restaurants in the local area. The food and service is top notch - nice to see an independent restaurant do well.
