Well this was a shocker Alarm bells ringing when walking up to the building, upstairs window crammed with rubbish. Went inside and advised we had booked a table at 7, to be told no I have not. The chief I believe came out and said he had booked us in, much to the disgust of the lady in the reception. We were lead through to a room I would describe as an episode of Noel’s house party and mr blobby was the waiter. Old curtains covering old food boxes and very dusty. The family who were leaving had not eaten a lot of the food and it looked very watery. I did not stay for the food as I believed getting something out of the skip next door may of been safer.

We ordered meals for a party of 10 and all of the curries were well flavoured, made with good quality ingredients and good-sized portions. We particularly enjoyed the chicken dhansak and balti. The starters were similarly of generous proportions and very tasty.

You may feel you've walked back in time when you enter the Agra and see the decor and old fashioned furniture but you would be missing something special if you didn't order your food. I had a chicken tikka masala and a lamb Rogan Josh with Raita as a side dish to takeaway. Some might find the first dish a little sweet for their taste and maybe would like the second to pack more of a punch but the meats were cooked to perfection, fresh and moist and I could taste the individual spices. The Raita was fluffy and light. Everything so fresh. It's a shame that this little gem is hidden in the corner of the small shopping area at Valley and not in an area that would get more footfall and better custom.

Ordered from here for the first time, and it will be the last. The chicken was the cheapest quality as if it was frozen, and full of water. The sauce was NOT a butter sauce, there was no Ghee in it and it had a weird artificial taste. The naan was burnt..... the korai sauce was not a traditional korai. Too hot and spicy. we didnt enjoy any of our meal. Such a shame as the lady taking the order was very friendly.

Terrible Having been a customer since it opened some 15 years or more, regular having the same thing chicken vindaloo The last few times have been terrible not what it used to be, always told them gave feedback hence why I have only now taken to trip advisor, to warn others.Ordered my usual and was given hot chilli dip see picture, I tried a tiny bit on a teaspoon before getting into my curry, don’t get me wrong I love hot spicy food, this absolutely blew my head off! So bad I couldn’t taste the vindaloo! A coupe of hours later, terrible stomach cramps, and eventually made me violently sick and the runs. I’ve been eating hot curry’s for the best part of 25 years so not as if I’m new to it, I used to have 3/4 takeaways from Agra a week.So sadly after the last experiences and still not been good or what it used to be I will not be returning. So word of warning if you are given a pit of this picture take extra care in my eyes it’s more of a curry paste mix than a sauce.

From starters to mains, very traditional, full of flavour, I asked for extra hot Jalfrezi it was spot on! Perfect! Agra doesn't take card payment (cash only) but this was no problem as there is a free cash point at Spar.Agra is open 4:30 - 11:00 PM 7 days a week.We had a good selection of starter, main, side & rice dishes, so review is based on a selection not just an individual dish.Portion size was good, all dishes were very enjoyable & price was average for a takeaway. Whilst waiting for our takeaway I was looking around at the roof tiles etc (yes I was bored) - not too clean. However, this would definitely not put me off if the food was good and this is purely an observation.Food.....Ordinarily if the food was okish I would have just accepted it not being the best curry we have had. However, the Chicken Passanda and the King Prawn Passanda were actually inedible. It was a 5 mile round trip to the restaurant but I felt compelled to return the dishes. These were replaced with Chicken Tikka Massala and King Prawn Massala. These were not brilliant but they were at least edible. I have to say the Chicken Khorai and the garlic Nan were lovely and I couldn't fault these.I respect the fact that they replaced the dishes and wish them well for the future but I will be looking for somewhere else for my next takeaway.

What a strange experience at Agra. It was like stepping back to the 70s, flock wallpaper, cold and damp.A Friday night in February, perhaps can be excused for being empty bar two other souls, but as there's not much choice in Valley I expected a few more people in and the other two were also visitors, i.e. not locals, so felt this might be a warning.Waking in it feels more of a takeaway than restaurant as you first encounter a lady behind a counter (she was a double for Nessa of Gavin & Stacy fame). You can just see the kitchen behind with one chef on duty, who did seem to be Bangladeshi at least. We were immediately informed that the Agra is unlicensed and payment is by cash only. As it nestles behind the local Spar shop, with cash machine, and with alcohol on sale, no problem, and at least you know you won't be fleeced on the drinks. We sat down, and it was immediately obvious the place was very cold, and does not have central heating. There was an ancient portable heater placed on the floor by the other two diners which frankly gave off more light than heat.By now were feeling wary, the lady came to take our order, we had a bit of banter with her about the cold, and it was all dealt with pleasantly. It was a relief then that the food turned out to be decent enough with the nan bread especially good.As vegetarians we had a Ceylon (Madras with coconut milk added), and a Biriyani, simple, tasty, and unfussy.Whilst there I think we heard just one take away order being made, and no other diners came in, this a Friday nightWithout profit on drinks one wonders how they cover their costs, perhaps they are using old money to go with the downmarket 70s atmosphere.Still, if it's a quick curry you want and you can cope with the failings of the ambience, the food we had was fine, so it's not all bad news for Agra.

Lived locally from 1997-2000 and ate there regularly, we were passing through last Sunday on the way to the ferry and thought we would eat there again. In the past we were greeted by Indian men in pristine white shirts but this time a presumably local girl informed us, when we asked for a table for 3, that she couldn't serve us as she was on her own and had 'all these other people' to deal with. She had spent quite a while conversing with 1 woman whilst 2 other people appeared to be waiting for takeaway or to pay for it. A chef briefly appeared from the kitchen and he wasn't Indian either so I don't know what has happened to the staff, needless to say, we would never return and would not recommend it to others. On holiday in Anglesey recently we tried Agra for a take-away. As regular diners of Indian food it is fair to say we have our own favourites in London and can tell a good restaurant from a bad one, however this absolutely hands down beats the lot for quality, flavour and value - absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious. I am only really sorry it is a five hour drive away! We went once more before leaving and on relaying our views on their excellent food to the manager, he introduced the chef (his father) who was the most pleasant man. He added some extra bits and even his Bombay potatoes were the best we have had. What a wonderful gem of a restaurant tucked away in Anglesey. Cannot recommend highly enough and cannot wait to return to Anglesey just for the restaurant alone. Fantastic! Sue French

The Agra restaurant is situated in the small shopping centre of Valley, Holyhead, Anglesey. The restaurant is fairly well set out and has a good comprehensive menu.I ordered a Chicken Tikka Chilli Masala which was not actually on the menu but was made for me.The dish came with quite an abundance of chilli`s and was quite hot and had a very good tastewith very nice tikka pieces. The Nan bread was really good.My friends had other dishes which they said were very good.On the down side they did not have a bar but you could take your own alchohol, also the background music was not Indian and if they would play authentic music it would add to the ambience of the restaurant. The staff working in the restaurant was English and it would work better if they had Indian staff.Overall the restaurant was worth a visit with nice polite staff but there is room for improvement.

Took our house guests to the Agra for a meal. We had various dishes and enjoyed them all. The best bit about the Agra is the quality of the naan breads. The chili pickle that is served with the poppadoms on request is excellent. I often choose Chicken Korai as it is a pleasant dish. I like the fact that you can bring your own drinks as it keeps the cost down. Meal for 4 was £44 - sometimes getting a meal for 2 at that price is difficult. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and said thank you to our guests for visiting Anglesey. If I were to give any feedback it would be to play Indian music rather than the radio. All four of us had a great meal and I will be happy to return.

When we were camping at Four mile bridge, we drove to this Indian restaurant and got ourselves a takeaway......I love Indian food, and the curry I had from here was superb, really hot, but gorgeous. Will go again, any time.

This has always been the best Indian takeaway! Excellent food, lovely staff. Highly recommended. We had a mix of very hot and milder dishes, all of which were delicious. I am a wimp, so i have vegetable Korma, and it really is the best ever.

'Was introduced to this, my local establishment six or seven years ago, and always found the quality of the food to be inconsistent - They do not serve alcohol, and payment is by cash (both of which can be obtained from the nearby shops) - It always seemed that the management here could not afford to heat the place during winter, as it was always freezing in there, and a portable heater was always placed next to our table after we were seated - The new 'cold' LED lighting that has now been fitted makes things even worse! - After several dud curries (and one or two rather good ones), I took my custom elsewhere. But, after being 'reliably' advised that things here had seriously improved, I decided to chance it, and took a party of four other people there - Oh dear, and much embarrassment on my part! I wish that I hadn't taken that gamble, as my guests and I were seriously less than impressed - I never would have recommended this place for a special occasion before this last visit, but I would recommend it even less so now - I WON'T BE GOING BACK under any circumstances!

Dined here with my Wife and two kids and enjoyed a tasty curry. My youngest son who is very fussy about his food loved the Korma,My Chicken Korai was very spicy but tasted good the others had Chicken Tikka Masala and it tasted as good as any we have had before in other restaurants and we are fairly regular vistors to "the Curry Mile"in Rusholme....It is a pretty basic place and you are encouraged to take your own drinks which keeps the price down too...there is not much in the way of choice of restaurants in Valley itself so as we were camping nearby it was within walking distance and having been here in the past decided to give it a try again as we had good food there in the past...It is pretty much the way I remember it from about 5 years ago...Not the sort of place to come for a special occasion but fine for a family meal when staying locally...If I was being picky I would say the Garlic nan was a bit rubbery but everything else was ok and the portions were very generous too...worth a visit if you fancy an Indian when in Anglesey ...incidentally they only take cash which is a little inconvenient but there is a cash till at the Spar round the corner...

This used to be a fabulous restaurant, noiw its so bad that when i had my meall from here i was so angry, it was inedible, disgusting if i had lived closer i'd have driven back and poured it on the floor, the total lack of respect for my taste buds deserved no other response, as it is just threw it away and rang to say I'd NEVER be back.

Had several currys from here and they've got worse. Last nights (and last time I'll go here) was awful. Madras was swimming in fat. No taste. Naan burnt to a crisp. Pakora swimming in fat. Awful service. Could forgive if it was busy but one table was seated. AVOID.

We have visited Agra on a number of occasions when staying with family in Holyhead. Always good quality food but the last time we payed a visit we were dissapointed to see the chips served with our curries were crinkle cut oven chips!! Seems a shame when the rest of the food was of such a good quality.

Been coming here for just over 12 years now and the staff, food and friendliness has all stayed the same, luckily! The only thing that has changed is the restaurant which was for the better and has delvoped into a lovely Indian restaurant! We have developed a good friendship with the staff and will continue going there for another 12 years!!

I live local and I use this takeaway whenever I fancy an Indian. I have always found the food to be of a good standard. My only whine would be directed at the popadums that are obviously cooked in old oil because they always taste of burnt oil.

Small Indian restaurant with very friendly staff and excellent food. Carpark right outside. The takeaway is the best we've found on Anglesey and the food is ready when they say. They don't take cards or cheques so bring cash (there is a cash dispenser at the Spar a few yards away).
