After being recommended to try the restaurant we decided to try it out last weekend, We ordered our meal but when it arrived My wife was not happy with with her meal as it did not taste right. A member of staff came over and asked if there was anything wrong. My wife said it did not taste right, She offered to change it to something else on the menu, which we thought was very nice of her. However after our meal we got the bill and they were still charging us half price for something the she couldn't eat, at this point we asked for the manager, Who turned out to be to owner, She then argued with us that we should pay as we had ordered it. Comment was that 4 members of staff had tasted it and the we nothing wrong with it. (Highly unlikely due to covid still around) Then a member of staff got involved stating no one else complained. We would not put it back if their was nothing wrong with it, They obviously took offence to the complaint. This was witnessed by members of the public coming into the restaurant, Which we thought was very unprofessional. We paid for what we had eaten an left. As a result we most defiantly would not recommend this restaurant due to the management and certain members of staff.

We visited The Admirals last Thursday while staying in Findochty. Our only disappointment was that we hadn't visited earlier in the week to allow us to go back again. This is a wonderful pub/restaurant. There was plenty choice of food. We loved what we had. In fact the haggis pakora was the best I've tasted. The food was excellent. Real home cooked meals. Great quality & despite being busy, very promptly served. The food is real value for money. The service was absolutely superb. Kaimi & Marie were so professional, efficient & extremely friendly. We were there with our dog, an almost teen & our toddler. It was so very dog & child friendly. Marie was super amazing with our 2yr old daughter. Marie was just so lovely, friendly, chatty. A real asset, made us feel so welcome. Next time we are in the area we would 100% be back. Great place.

We visited for drinks on the first night in Findochty and decided to make reservations for dinner for the next night after hearing from another couple in the pub that the food was good. When making the reservation my 5 year old got upset when i gave them my name as he wanted to be the one to have the reservation….when we walked in the next night the server said oh, is it a table for (my son’s name)…made his day! It was good of her to remember and make him feel special. Also, my son was fancying something from the main menu and they said they could do a half portion for him which was great. We all enjoyed our meals, and our puddings. We had steak pie, chicken and haggis, and the chicken sizzler platter. Chef a great guy, really friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back some day.

The only pub in the village. As we had rented a cottage in the village we decided to go for a meal. Having read the reviews on this and other web sites we were looking forward to it. We all had fish and chips. The batter was greasy, the chips were oven cooked, and the plate filled with peas. A small piece of lemon for garnish. Very very very uninspiring. The drinks and the food were both pricey. You can get better fish and chips at Linda's fish and chip shop in Cullen. When there is no competition and you are The Only Pub in village your standards don't have to be too high, but they should be. If it had been better we would have gone back, but we won't, and neither should you.

I attempted to get a quiet pint this afternoon in the beer garden of the admiral Inn. The girl behind the bar was very nice and accommodating when requested a glass tumbler as apposed to plastic. She explained why they had been doing this. I was served and as I was leaving the bar 2 local barflys became very abusive as I was wearing a mask. They informed me that they had no covid before city people came to their town. As I attempted to educate them on how a virus is transmitted the first conceded but the second became very abusive and hostile swearing at me and telling me to get the F out. I asked him to decist and attempted to leave with my pint. This behaviour was witnessed by all the bar and staff. I did not stay in this very unwelcoming atmosphere. I am sorry that the only bar in town for the tourist is populated by hostile Illinformed alcohols who are favoured over new custom. Poor show. Tut tut. Won't be back.

This was a poor experience all round; frazzled waitress, uninspired menu and slow service. With less than half the tables filled this establishment struggled to cope. Baring in mind this pub is right next to a working harbour, the menu consisted of very basic cafe fare. After waiting over 40 minutes for soggy toasties we were then informed by the waitress that for such a large party (5 adults) we should phone in advance. We were not ordering a 5 course tasting menu - just beer and toasties.... After MONTHS of being forcibly shut, I would have expected these little establishments to be grateful of passing tourist trade. I would advise fellow travellers to visit Buckie or Cullen if they wish a warmer welcome.

Set in a lovely setting on the coast in the village of Findochty overlooking the North Sea .Well maintained premises and nicely decorated. We ate in a large bright and airy dining room where all COVID rules were being followed . We were a party of 4 adults . Menu on wall was limited to about 8 dishes( and no starters were available ,) but by the time the waitress came to take our order 3 of the main dishes had been deleted, so then choice was very limited. Three of us had fish - breaded ones were nice and crisp but the battered one was really heavy and soggy so most of that was left . I had the chicken and black pudding with a pepper sauce which was lovely ( very filling) All dishes served with chips and peas and generous servings but I did feel chips could have been crisper too .

The food menu is not inspiring and although we have had ' ok' meals here in the past, this year we have decided to visit other pubs/ restaurants where we are made to feel more welcome. My father in law and I also buy beer from the supermarket and dolphin watch from our cottage - rather than go to the pub! It is a pity because the Admirals is in a great position and in my opinion could do a lot more to welcome visitors. The attitude of the pub is not typical of the rest of the area. We will no doubt revisit the pub as there is no other choice in this town - we keep a good sense of humour about the service by maintaining very low expectations.

Booked a table for 6 people for my mums birthday, was booked for 7.15, eventually got our starters which was only 3 at 8.15!! 2 of us had the garlic mushrooms, we only received 2 mushrooms each on our plate!!! By 9pm we had had enough and left, can't fault the waitresses as they were fantastic and taking all the hassle - very poor!!!!

Menu read quite well, decided on a 'special'. Rump steak tournado Rossini. Tough rump steak with a slab of supermarket pate plonked on top, frozen green beans and onion rings which were raw inside. Expensive for what it was. Maybe if we'd stuck to the basics it could have been reasonable pub fare if staying at campsite. Glaikit waitress, didn't know what dish was and had to go and ask. The only other customers asked for dessert menu and she just told them to read the board.I don't like giving poor reviews but good reviews have to be earned.

We pop in here every year while staying at holiday cottages in Portknockie. A great walk, and always looking forward to a beer, dram and something to eat at the end. While the premises are nice, feel that the staff could be a bit frendlier, also limited number of malts behind the bar. Appreciate that the licensed trade is being squeezed all the time, but a wee smile casts nothing

We visited for dinner on a Friday evening. Very picturesque setting with lovely views of the harbour. The staff were friendly and polite and we ate in the conservatory which had a very convivial atmosphere. The food was typical pub fare, very generous portions, not the best meal I've had but certainly nothing to complain about.

We decided to walk the old redundant railway line route from Buckie to Findochty. As it was lunchtime we decided to go into the Admiral as it looked nice. Inside was nice and we were served quite quickly. When the food came it was nice and hot and looked a good plateful. As a veggie I decided on the Macaroni and cheese as I eat a lot of this and my wife took this too. The garlic bread was nice but the macaroni cheese was watery and not very cheesy and the chips weren't great either. Pity too as potentially all the other items like environment, hot food and service set it up to be good. The secret with macaroni cheese isn't just about putting cheese on the top, the sauce has to have a goodly amount as well. When I was paying, the waitress did ask how it was. When I responded that it wouldn't win any awards she didn't respond - nuff said

Although the menu is not too extensive it covers the main dishes you'd expect in a pub like restaurant which is more than fine for us. The conservatory has a comfortable feel to it and a nice outlook over the harbour and sea in the background. We've been a couple of times and the food is good Scottish fare with decent service. Today the we all had different dishes and all were good and reasonably priced. Don't expect gourmet food for sure but if it's honest wholesome food then they will do you proud.

When you arrived you have a choice of the Public Bar or the Lounge Bar. The Lounge bar is O.K. and we booked a table in advance which is recommended. Do not eat here if you are in a hurry. We booked a table for 7.30pm and waited for over an hour before we got our food, a bit longer than we would have expected. The menu is different every day as there was no formal menu as such, only what was written on the blackboard which was the menu for the day and even then a number of items were already not available by the time we ordered. The Haddock and Chips, normally a pub favourite, was 'off' the menu when I ordered. The quality of service is not the best, it was O.K. and staff appeared flustered and dis-organised. No drinks were offered when we first arrived, which is normally what you would expect, and we had to ask for drinks to be served after the food order had been taken. The food was as you expect - 'pub' food. It was O.K. but nothing that would make it out of the ordinary or worthy of anything other than acceptable home cooking. When I asked for the bill, I was not given any formal bill but just told the amount I had to pay which seemed too much. I challenged the amount as it appeared I was being over charged. Only after I said what was consumed was the bill agreed, lower than the original demand.

Before I start my review, may I assure you that I have NEVER placed a negative review anywhere in my life before and I am not some kind of person who can never be pleased as I am aware such people do exist. Rather I see the good in people and understand mistakes can be made but the hospitality we received ( or rather lack of it ) was shameful. We were out walking around 5pm on Saturday 25th February when we decided to pop in to the Admirals Inn for a drink. There is a Bar and a Lounge attached to this Inn and as we approached, saw that the bar was quite busy with lots of men standing at it so we opted for the Lounge especially as there were ladies in the party. As we walked in to the Lounge we spoke to the bar maid who didnt even acknowledge us and as my sister continued to speak to her she just stared at us without replying or saying a word. We felt incredibly uncomfortable. There were no other customers in the lounge which was completely empty except for one person sitting on a bar stool who we thought must have been the owner or perhaps the manager because when we asked for a drink this lady swung round and said " If you are only in for a drink then go to the bar next door as we expect to be busy tonight " We could not believe our ears. The abruptness of this lady and the ignorance of the barmaid who didnt even speak to us was beyond belief, especially as we walked in chatty and saying hello. Every single table in the entire Lounge and conservatory were empty and to turn away customers in such an abrupt manner is disgraceful. Even supposing they were expecting to get busy later on ( after all it was only 5pm ) then a more polite way would have been to welcome us as paying customers explaining this but at least making us welcome in the interim period. We were only going to sit at a table adjacent to the bar in the Lounge and not in the conservatory tables which were set for meals.Needless to say we left and decided to keep our hard earned money ourselves.

This was our first visit to the Admiral's Inn, and based on the quality of our meal we will probably not return in a hurry. Whilst our waitress was attentive and very friendly, I'm afraid our meals were very average. Our starters were absolutely fine, but our steaks were tasteless and incorrectly cooked. The steak sauces were of the strangest gloopy consistency and were really quite unpleasant. I'm a very good cook, and I've actually no idea how the chef managed to make the sauces come out so peculiarly. We decided not to stay for a dessert or coffee. The bar, however, seemed to be packed so this place seems to be very popular with the locals.

we were spending a week in the pretty fishing village of Findochty. My husband went to bar a couple of evenings for a pint. He was made very welcome & had a pleasant hour or two. On our last evening 3 of us went for a birthday meal in the conservatory at the Admiral. portions were huge ,well presented & very reasonably priced. Served by a very pleasant lady who made us feel very welcome. The inn looks on to the small harbour & it must be lovely during the better weather when you would be able to sit outside & enjoy the view. The conservatory has a nautical theme to its decor & was pleasantly warm on a cold January evening.Service was efficient & staff came over a few times to ensure we had everything we needed .

We went to this restaurant for a Sunday lunch, and were not disappointed. The location is gorgeous....right on Findochty Harbor, with great views to the sea from the conservatory part of the restaurant. We had called to reserve, and were given the best table in the place. Having been a bit wary of the service due to some of the TripAdvisor reviews, we were ready for anything. But our experience was really good, and we found all the staff to be very friendly and they really worked hard to make sure we were happy. The young man from the kitchen who brought out our starter said that if we needed anything at all, or if there were any problems at all, he would be happy to fix them...this is before we had the best shrimp cocktail starter I think I've ever tasted! (It should be said too that this is the person that can be heard singing in the kitchen if you listen really hard...a sure sign of a happy cook!). The food was very good...the only slight issue is that the portions are so big that I felt bad sending so much back, because I simply couldn't eat that much. Now...the best part...as we were finishing up our meal, we looked up to see the famous Moray Firth dolphins rollicking their way toward Cullen Bay! It was stunning to see them in the setting sun! A real bonus!!!
