Just had an amazing meal with friends. Food was very good sized portions and tasted delicious. Almost felt like we were back in Portugal. Highly recommend. Will definitely go back.

Expanded Menu offered great choices, and the house wine was as good as ever. Decided on the piri piri chicken, beautifully cooked. My wife had the avocado pate and chicken kebab which were excellent.

One of the most authentic restaurants I have ever been to. Everything is cooked from scratch and tastes incredibly good. Small family business, artisan and hand crafted food. We will come back - what a fantastic hidden gem!!

Strange that all the reviews give glowing reports, why was our visit not up to our expectations ? On our arrival to this authentically decorated restaurant we were greeted warmly by a young lady and shown to our seat. Ordered our wine , which was a very good choice, a half carafe of house red, and perused the interesting menu. Waitress helped us with the menu and gave her suggestions. We both opted for the clams, which was a tasty ,generous portion served with delicious bread. Half a chicken each done Portuguese peri peri style, well supposedly ,and was told it would take about thirty minutes, no problem as it had to be cooked I thought. Wrong, it had to be defrosted. It had previously been cooked then frozen, then put on the grill. I watched the antics in the kitchen from my seat as I was facing it when this all transpired. Also I knew it had been frozen ,as frozen cooked chicken bones turn black. Subsequently it was very dry and a dangerous habit, campylobacter springs to mind .Also a gentleman staff member was constantly drinking alcohol and made about six or seven visits to the toilet(hope he washed his hands) and looked worse for wear. Prices reasonable, service was very good ,hygiene practices suspect, shame food for main course was disappointing.

What a lovely place to have lunch or afternoon tea, I was also told the evening meals were on the same level(Fabulous tasty food, pleasantly presented with excellent waiting service,very friendly and polite.After placing our order,the food and drink was on the table before we new it and was a delight to our day,it was perfect.Spotlessly clean with bright decor.Everyone should try this lovely restaurant, they won't be disappointed .

The food and service here is great. So nice to see something different to pizza and burgers on offer. I highly recommend that you try it.

Fantastic atmosphere, very clean and simple they didn't overdo the theme of the restaurant. Very friendly staff/owner they can help you with the choices if you are not familiar with Portuguese dishes. This is not a chain restaurant is an authentic Portuguese place. The choice of food is not of the "pre-made-frozenand microwaved" variety, few dishes all authentic and made to order, this is proper food that takes its time to be done right. And they do you fantastic. Unfortunately do to healt issues I couldn't explore the nice selection of Portuguese wines and spirits. Mi wife got the bacalau which was really well prepared. I sticked to another classic Portuguese staple, bifana and prego. I wanted the chicken but they could not get it due the issues with haulage companies in UK.5 stars all round

What a great find - we had a brilliant meal. This is a lovely, friendly restaurant, all the staff are really helpful and enthusiastic about the food they serve. Which was excellent and authentically Portuguese. A wonderful alternative to the regular Great Yarmouth options.

It was great to see different things on a menu in Great Yarmouth. We loved the platter starter and sardines. The house white wine is brilliant and great value for money. Would definitely recommend this restaurant especially if you want something a little different.

Stumbled across this lovely restaurant when looking for somewhere to have lunch. We were drawn in by the fish dishes and were not disappointed. All three courses were amazing and one of the best meals we have had. The staff were incredibly friendly and it had a lovely family feel to it. We have found our new favourite restaurant for our yearly holiday to Norfolk. The best thing was the price. My husband couldnt believe that three courses for four people plus drinks came under £100 with tip. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Went with my friend Amelia and my 4 year old son William this evening for a meal. Had a nice time there! Good location in the sea front, the food was lovely, tasty. Wonderful deserts, nice wine! The owner and staff were warm, friendly people and very professional! I'll go again, for sure :)

We went on 21 July for Dinner as the menu looked enticing. And we had a variety of main courses. Frango Assado - which was a whole chicken roasted and cut up Lamb chops Bitoque = fried egg and butter pan sauce. Everything was cooked beautifully and if we return to Great Yarmouth - we will definitely return

Visited the family run restaurant on a Thursday. Was busy but the staff made us welcome from the start and the food was fantastic. Had a mixture of food and was all delicious. Massive portions and value for not allot of money. 100% will be going back

We have been visiting this restaurant for several years whilst it was in the hands of the previous owner. We were surprised when we discovered that it had been taken over and worried that the "flavour" of this busy Portuguese restaurant would be lost.We need not have worried! Leonora and her staff do a great job of ensuring that a little bit of Portugal exists on the seafront in Great Yarmouth!The welcome is so friendly and genuine, the service excellent (well done Luke and Seth) and the atmosphere perfect. Oh! Did we mention the food?? DELICIOUS!! The best octopus salad we have ever tried, perfect sardines and the pork is heavenly! Genuine Portuguese wines compliment the small menu and the coffee is spot-on.Definitely one of our go-to places for the future.

Best restaurant in Great Yarmouth! We came here whilst on holiday and had the best Portuguese food I have ever hard It was freshly cooked with huge portions and great value for money. Would through recommend.

Amazing food…We have been in Great Warmouth for a weekend and find the Varina just for causality,Amazing people, Mom (Irene) and Daughter (Leonor) work as great team. The food it’s amazing, and the bread it’s unbelievable well made by Antonio (the Dad) that moment we see us transported to our beloved Portugal. We feel like we made new friends and we hope to come back very soon. Thank you for everything.

We found A Varina on Trip Advisor before taking our trip to Great Yarmouth and what a find it is! It is like a bit of Portugal at home, the atmosphere, the people and the food are outstanding. Mum and Daughter team are fantastic and unfortunately we had only time for two visits as we would have loved to try more of their fabulous dishes.From the moment you enter the restaurant, it feels like you have made it to Portugal after all (our trip was cancelled). From the deco of the little restaurant to the hospitality and food... it is all perfect. We will have to make more trips to Great Yarmouth.

From the moment I walked in it was like I was in Portugal. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, so fresh and authentic.We went twice while we we there and would have gone a third time had we not already booked elsewhere. We asked for a traditional Portuguese dish the second time we went which wasn’t on the menu and it was absolutely delicious! The clams and prawns are a must! The portions are amazing value for money too. I cannot rate this place enough, you will not be disappointed

LOVED this place! We came here almost every day in our week at Yarmouth. It serves mostly traditional Portuguese food, made from scratch on the premises every day. It’s family run and serves the best coffee we found alongside homemade treats (the Nutella doughnuts were naughty, but incredible!). Great value and tasty breakfasts and we loved the evening meals we had here. The meat platter was soooo tasty and such good value and I loved the fresh simple salad. The savoury pastries were delish & reminiscent and a childhood fave of Findus Crispy Pancakes - but they are homemade! Honestly our fave eatery suitable for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s very popular with the local Portuguese community which tell you all you need to know. A gem. Try it!

On a sunny mid January day we were lucky to find this restaurant open for lunch as many places were closed. We were not disappointed!The people were so welcoming and soon convinced us to try a beef, and a pork meal as a special offer. I'm fairly terrible at remembering to post reviews... we are lucky enough to go out a couple of times a week in Great Yarmouth and have certain favourites.We noticed this opening and thought we would give it a try.First time was 2 sharing platters (too much to eat and took some home). Second time was lunch and again a great meal.Will certainly be back. Great value for money and lovely quality

I ate some lunch here today and they were so accommodating, three of us were vegetarians and the owners couldn't have helped us more. So friendly with a personal touch and most importantly amazing food and the cakes are like nothing else in the area. Highly recommended this wonderful new addition to Great Yarmouth Sea Front. I'll be here all the time now!

A friend of mine recommended that I visit A Varina Petisqueira & Bar on one of my days off. The staff were so friendly and accommodating for my nephew whom likes a very select array of food, I’m vegetarian (Awkward) and the food was gorgeous. We received a lovely warm welcome and will be back without a doubt!Try the chocolate mouse!!
