Visitamos este restaurante regularmente y siempre estamos impresionados con la calidad de la comida y el amable personal, sin embargo, las cosas han cambiado desde nuestra última visita en noviembre. La política BYOB se ha eliminado, lo cual es decepcionante y el menú ha cambiado por completo desde nuestra última visita, ya que solíamos amar el menú de almuerzo para 2 y ya no está disponible. El personal fue muy amable, pero no puedo entender por qué hiciste los cambios, ya que este era uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para ir a Edimburgo y me temo que después de nuestra última experiencia no volveremos pronto.

Visitamos en una noche oscura y húmeda después del rugby y el restaurante era acogedor y tranquilo en comparación con el bar de arriba. Como grupo grande teníamos el menú de 2/3 platos que estaba bien para nosotros. Opciones limitadas, pero todos acordaron que la comida era sabrosa y una buena relación calidad-precio. El lugar era genial con mucho que ver además de pequeños rincones para una experiencia de cena más personal.El servicio fue muy bueno y el personal sonreía y servicial. Sin duda lo volvería a visitar.

Por favor busca nuestra pequeña joya escondida. Fantástica selección de bebidas para cada paladar. El mac cheese es increíble. Este es uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para visitar en la ciudad. La comida, las bebidas y el servicio simplemente no se pueden perder. Gracias de nuevo por una gran experiencia. Volveremos pronto 5 estrellas todo el camino.

Todos dicen lo buena que es la comida aquí. Bueno, no en mi experiencia. Yo era parte de un grupo muy grande y simplemente no cumplieron. La sopa era normal, la espinilla de ternera era pequeña y medio gorda y la mousse de chocolate completamente rica y pesada. Este era su menú de Navidad a 35 por cabeza. No pagaría 10 por esa comida. Quizás es muy difícil para la cocina producir alimentos de calidad en grandes cantidades. Quizás lo intente nuevamente en un grupo más pequeño.

Quiet, service great, food good, original decor, loved the mural and also variety of seating choices. We chose to go downstairs to eat. Busy outside on a sunny evening and in the Tuechters bar upstairs. Nice little alcoves on a lower level also. The food was served with excellent sauces and a there were a great selection of Scottish themed dishes.We chose the plaice on a sweet potato puree and also the chicken. Great election of single malt whiskies.Service was friendly and food came quickly as we were there early. We enjoyed trying to guess all the famous Scots on the mural. A short walk from our rented holiday apt. at the West End.

What an absolute gem. Walking down to the restaurant felt like walking into 16th century Edinburgh. The whole atmosphere felt authentic. The sreving staff were attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, simply could not fault it. They have a mural along one wall with caracatures of famous Scots, the one of Daniela Nardini had me beat until I picked up on the clue (go visit and solve it for yourself). Thank you for a lovely evening.

Go to this restaurant regularly and once again it didn't disappoint on out latest visit. Friendly staff, beautiful food and in a brilliant location two minutes from the West End. I have recommended this restaurant to several of our friends and each and every one of them have been extremely impressed. Will be back very soon.

Absolutely fabulous dinner. Fantastic service and beautiful food. Courgette starter to die for and hubbies’ Cullen skink got his thumbs up. Traditional Scottish based dishes with additional twists. Highly recommended

Visitamos para una comida de familia numerosa (20 invitados). Habíamos reservado mesas en el sótano y todos pudimos sentarnos juntos. Me encantó la decoración con murales pintados a mano de caras bien de Edimburgo. El servicio fue amable (aunque un poco presuntuoso) y el nivel justo de intrusión. El menú era bueno, con muchas opciones disponibles como entrante o principal, que satisfacía muchos gustos. Una molestia menor fue que un par de invitados pidieron lados de papas o verduras y las camareras presionaron a los invitados para que se comprometieran con esto para toda la fiesta cuando otros aún no habían pedido y quizás no hayan pedido algo que quisiera papas o verduras como un lado. Además de comprar cervezas, vinos, licores (de los cuales hay una buena selección), puede tomar su propio vino (solo vino) y pagar el corcho.

Very, very very noisy. So noisy you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you. The 'party menu' was entirely predictable, only one vegetarian choice and that was dreary. The staff were efficient but there wasn't much fun in it.

I have been coming to this bar for a few years now when working in Edinburgh and never knew the restaurant was there

We made reservations for a Saturday evening meal, and when we arrived, the upstairs bar was filled with rambunctious sports fans, who were spilling out into the street. At first, I was a bit concerned, but soon we found ourselves downstairs in a cozy basement restaurant away from the noise and commotion.

We visited this restaurant on a Friday night during a recent stay in Edinburgh. There is a fabulous mural in this basement dining room and we enjoyed spotting familiar faces. We did struggle to find a bottle of wine to suit our tastes, in the end we opted for the house white I think, which was forgettable. My overwhelming memory of eating here was that the food was good, but we didn't really have a chance to enjoy it as we were rushed through in under an hour. We booked well in advance and no one was waiting for our table, but plates were brought out and cleared so swiftly we didn't even have time to finish our drinks.

We ate at this restaurant during our stay in a local holiday rental. I had some very tasty Scottish fare: Cullen Skink to start, and then Haggis, Neeps 'n' Tatties for main. It was very filling (almost too filling - I perhaps should have not chosen 2 courses with potato in!). All my fellow diners also enjoyed their meals.

Met a group of friends here for lunch, as they have a good selection of beer, whisky, gin and serve tasty food. Some of our friends are also included in the mural downstairs. Service was prompt/efficient, and the meal was enjoyable.

This is the 3rd time we have been to this place and it was fab .the cullen skink was lovely and tasty as a main course and the haggis starter was lovely. My wife had the veg starter and main and both were tasty and not the usual mushroom cop-out. Service was friendly and efficient will be back again

I used to eat here regularly but had to stop for mobility reasons as it has pretty steep steps. Tried again but realised this will be my last visit. Not just for mobility reasons but food is not as good as it used to be either, sadly. Several of us ordered the smoked duck starter but the smoke was so overpowering, you could not taste anything else on the plate, not even the duck. It wasn’t even a nice smoked flavour, it was acrid and left a catching feeling in back of the throat. The haggis was also very nippy and was left too. The rest of the meal was really nice and up to previous standard but no one asked why so much had been left of starters.

Atmospheric basement restaurant which can be a bit noisy when full. Good food from an interesting menu, Scallops with pea purée was very good, Lemon Posset with raspberries and ginger shortbread. Couldn’t taste much ginger in the shortbread but it was still delicious.
