Pleasant enough restaurant. Not much atmosphere upstairs … you feel tucked out of the way. Enjoyable, but nothing special.

This has become our go to restaurant when we are in Deal, booked for Easter Sunday and as ever the team delivered a fantastic dining experience, excellent food, great service and well priced, definitely recommend.

Lovely restaurant with great food, well-prepared and presented. The bream was wonderfully light and the peanut and chocolate parfait for dessert had lots of delicious complementary flavours to enjoy! Good, knowledgeable service.

Just had the most amazing meal here. Food was delicious and service was great. Rare steak cooked to perfection and lamb was also perfect. Would highly recommend and will be back very soon.

They saved us a lovely long table upstairs for 9 of us. Lovely beach views. The Menu was small , however very substantial. There was something for everyone.

Our friend selected this restaurant for a birthday celebration and it was spot on!! Lovely ambiance by the sea, where you could enjoy view of the Deal Pier if you chose the bay window seat on the upper floor. The food was delicious and the service well done. I chose the Vegetarian Mezze (yummy parmesan with sweet & sour peppers, fragrant basil oil, Kalimata olives and toasted focaccia). Followed by the Panko Halloumi served with sweet potato wedges, grilled courgettes and surrounded by sweet & sour red pepper & chilli coulis that really adds so much flavour!! We shared the British Cheeseboard for the finale, which had a lovely selection of Brighton blue, Sussex brie, Canterbury Ashmore cheddar, chilli marble cheddar served with grapes, assorted crackers & lovely quince jelly. Such a lovely evening!!!

Once again we enjoyed a delicious lunch here. The menu offers a great choice and there is also a very reasonably priced set menu.

We’ve taken advantage of the lunch offer at 81 Beach Street on a couple of occasions and have been really impressed with the value and quality of the food and service. The variety on the set menu is great. Would like to go back to try the full menu some time! Staff very friendly. And particularly enjoyed being at a table with a view into the kitchen. Went here for mother's day (4of us) The food was very good however the service was poor. We were put upstairs (table for 4) and were told they needed the table in 2 hours, which you would think would be plenty of time... We were left for too long before being served. I asked for water twice which never turned up. We never had time for desert as they needed the table and the service was far too slow, it's like because we were sat upstairs we were forgotten about. There was also a table of 10 next to us who had a toddler which was very wingey which spoilt our meal with Family. I appreciate the fact that it was mother's day and the restaurant was busy, but we felt neglected being seated upstairs out the way. Maybe more staff needed. Came away feeling very disappointed especially on a special occasion.

Such a wonderful intimate restaurant and staff are supper friendly. The best Sunday lunch we’ve had in such a long time. The beef was so tasty with amazing Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. Loved the vegetables on the wooden board and extra gravy. Well worth a visit.

Great food. Good service. Accurate description on the menu. Staff are very friendly, the rooms are very clean and tidy. It was busy down stairs when we went so were seated upstairs, which has a lovely view of the seafront and iconic pier Can get very busy so booking is probably wise.

My partner and I came here for Sunday Roast and it was absolutely amazing! We had the beef and the pork and the sharing platter of veg was lovely!. Absolutely faultless!

I have been here twice with my mum and dad. Both times, they put us right by the kitchen on a table, which is only just big enough for 2, yet alone 3. Last time we asked to move as when they put the 3rd chair there, there is not enough room for staff to get pass. This time, we asked to sit somewhere else. I had already planned what I was going to have as I had looked at the menu on the website. But the menu in the restaurant was different. Most of the starters were different, the fish dish wasn't the same or the vegetables, and the beef said aged rather than 28 day aged as per the website. Also some prices were different. Not very professional, in my opinion. I also wanted a tea, but they only had 1 choice, English breakfast. The food was ok. I wouldn't rush back. Staff were friendly enough. Bit disappointing.

OMG! The food was to die for! Compliments indeed to The Chef... Everything perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and all separate dishes delivered to our table at same time. Lovely lunch here today with good choice of wines and very attentive and professional service from young front of house team. We had the catch of the day (sea bream) and pork belly. Fairly standard menu but with a bit of a twist and super fresh and beautifully cooked. We’d booked for 1pm and were still there at 2.30 even though we only had mains and shared a pudding. It’s so lovely to not be rushed and hassled to turn around the table. And the loos were lovely too!

Superb restaurant with delicious off the scale food to die for. Pork confit with rosti potatoes and cabbage was melt in the mouth delicious. All the staff were pleasant and polite. Our waiter Tom was knowledgeable and personable and quite delightful. He went out of his way to look after us. Even his knowledge on olives was impressive!Two evenings spent here were definitely the highlight of our first ever trip to Deal. We would return purely to come again to 81 Beach Street - and Tom! Went there for a big group meal just before Christmas. We had the upstairs dining area to ourselves. Food was delicious and well presented. Service was first rate too, friendly and relaxed, but not casual. Very impressed. Just need to find a way to crack those windows open before Summer 😉

Had an amazing Christmas lunch here , there were fourteen of us and no complaints from anyone. Food was great , good portion size , served hot and was very tasty. All staff were excellent , so thank you.

Still CONSISTENTLY the best restaurant in Deal in terms of value, service and food. Limited food selection but ample for most. Lunchtime fixed menu very good value. Wine choice good. Can be very noisy so best tables are in the front with the sea view.

Underwhelming i think would sum up our experience, food ok but under seasoned especially the fish of the day dish, inner door required on entrance freezing cold blast when some one entered or left. Not what you would expect.

The restaurant staff are really welcoming, the downstairs eating area has a really lovely homely feel. We were a lunchtime party of four. We had starters and mains. It was a bit hit and miss on timings, 2 starters came, the 3rd came a little later and the 4th probably the easiest being that it was houmous, took an absolute age. We then waited some considerable time for the mains to come. The food in itself was ok and good value, but didnt really reach our expectations and what with the slow service it was a tad disappointing.

Extremely popular restaurant right on the seafront. The food is first-rate with creative dishes that are beautifully presented and delicious. The lunch specials are especially great value, £10 for two or £15 for three courses where each dish is exceptional. Reservations are highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Although we were 15 mins late for our reservation, i was disappointed 1. I was not telephoned, 2. Our table was given away. We were offered tables upstairs and although no one was up there (no atmosphere) they couldn’t offer the bay table initially. Did feel forgotten upstairs but staff were very friendly when we saw them. Other couple that came into the room got served before us even though we were there 15 mins before them. Lesson learned, dont be late!!

Visited 81 after attending a work do pre covid, I had been impressed then and I’m happy to say that nothing has changed. After seeing the 2 courses for £10 advertised on instagram I booked the restaurant for lunch with two friends. The £10 menu choices were great, we all tried different dishes and enjoyed them all. My dhal and spicy pork was delicious, accompanied by a curious brew it was perfection! The staff were smiling and attentive, all in all a lovely afternoon. So good I made a booking for parents to have an anniversary lunch on Monday.

I had the most fantastic meal here today. The food really was quite incredible, the best meal I have had in many years. The service was speedy and friendly. The atmosphere is just lovely, informal but delightful. I cannot wait to return.

We got married in a small family of 10 service and wanted a nice relaxed meal afterwards and coming to 81 was absolutely fantastic. We had a few dietary requirements and the staff went above and beyond making sure all were taken care of and their vegan options were the best I’ve seen in Deal. The food was just delicious every single one of us cleared our plates and the portions were perfect sizes. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and honestly patient considering how long it took us all to choose or meals. The meals weren’t over priced, you get great food at a great price. I would definitely recommend 81 to everyone and my husband and I will be making it a regular in our night out. On a personal note I just want to thank them so much for making our day so wonderful. The fact this place was busy on a mid-week lunch service in September tells you something about whether it's worth visiting. Being up the road from Dover I could hardly refuse Dover Sole, which was Catch of the Day and melt-in-your-mouth.

We had not been for a bit but went at the last minute on Monday evening. The service we received was super really super not just functional but friendly, caring and genuine. The food was excellent and when we told them my wife was GF they were great. So glad I found this fab little restaurant, I can not fault the service and food, I'm a big fish lover and they use local sorced products highly highly recommend, I've booked in for my eve meals whole time I'm here in deal for work.
