606 Club in Kensington and Chelsea

This is one of the small number of great jazz venues in London, helped by the fact that the owner is an affirmed bebop fanatic. The food is good, the drinks list is fine but the Manager .. be prepared … he is straight out of the Van Morrison Charm School … enough said (hence 4 not 5 stars)

If you like live music is such a great place. Bit of an older crowd (60’s/70’s) but lots of people really enjoying the musicians- thought the pianist and guitar guys were on another level but most went for the saxophonist and loved the triangle /tambourine guy. Food a bit basic but does the job

Possibly the best club in London. Its size, location, setup, staff, management and gig quality make a uniquely brilliant combination. I have been there half a dozen times and always had a blast. Nowhere else have I been this close to the musicians and had that much fun. 7 nights a week and line up is consistently impressive. Member rates reasonable and benefits excellent. This is a unique club with a lot of history that you must discover!

Was there for a specific performance, but heard that their food was also good. And as a carnivore I can confirm that my steak 🥩 was excellent! 👌🏼

Great live music venue, with an interesting layout. They have a minimum spend on food if you book for the same night, and it’s not delicious - but the show was great!

A great experience! The 606 is cosy and atmospheric. The food was very good, and served quickly. Attentive staff ensured that glasses didn't stay empty for long. The sound was excellent, as were the views of the nowhere distant stage. All in all, highly recommended

Hidden gem of a place for jazz. Honestly one of the best jazz clubs I’ve visited in London. Good dinner, but nothing fancy, and intimate setting. The stage is on the same level as everyone else and it’s such a friendly atmosphere with other likeminded jazz enthusiasts. Highly recommend!

The visit was intended to be watching the live performance of a jazz ensemble while f&b was considered secondary. Apart from the decent sounding acoustics of the venue, food turned out to be a pleasant surprise too. The tables are placed close to each other to understandably maxmise floor space but the feelings of being packed are the last to be felt. An incredible place to enjoy a meal with great music.

Proper old-style jazz club, with tables and full menu. (It's compulsory to order at least a main course per person). Not sure why as a Londoner of 45 years I'd never been here before, but I'll certainly be re-visiting.

We went to see Liane Carroll, didn't know much about the club. We were delighted with both. The food, service & atmosphere were superb. Liane and Ian Shaw were excellent, a thoroughly enjoyable evening to end London Jazz week. Must go again!

Great food, great jazz experience. The owner is a very nice person, who you can tell loves what he does and have a passion for jazz. I have been twice in the place and both times had a wonderful evening meal and concert. Would recommend either for jazz lovers or if you’re trying something different.

Lovely gem of a place for. Jazz lovers. I'd love to immortalized this space with a 360 Tour with staged musicians and some light painting techniques. Tom Stone the manager has brought a fresh new vibe to the place and I am looking forward to come back again soon.

Great food, hospital staff and above all, great gig

It has been a while since we were there last time. The venue is still the same but the programme is much better. The performance used to be started really late. Now, it starts earlier at 8 or 9PM. We got two hours of performances last night, which was great. The ticket price is reasonable too. The food was okay too. I like this place a lot better compared to Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express or Jazz cafe. We will go back soon as now they also have lunch time performances.

Small, decadent, good overall view of the performance from every angle, decent sound for the size of venue , what really let it down was the quality of food ( Salmon and nachos ) Total disaster !!! Salmon cooked week before or bought in, already processed , dry , no flavour with garnish from 1980s

As well as the jazz, the 606 Club is well worth visiting for the food. The menu was interesting and reasonably priced (especially for the area) and the food was delicious.

I'm a big music fan and the 606 often has really good jazz and/ or funk offerings. I live nearby and would go regularly if only the food wasn't so terrible!! It's been the same for years - the limited menu and badly cooked meals are so awful they seem straight out of a Fast Show comedy sketch out 1980s London wine bars. If only this place would up its game, get rid of the chef and hire someone who knows who to run a modern kitchen, this venue would be packed every night. Best avoided unless you're such a music fan that you don't mind eating rubbish1!

Fab night! A real Jazz club, small , packed, busy, dark! Great food and service. Be prepared to sit close to other tables or almost on the stage! Not easy to find, drove past it twice! It looks shut when you arrive but after you press the buzzer the steel gate opens and you go down into a basement! This has to be the best Jazz Club in London.

Baffled how this restaurant can advertise themselves as a Jazz restaurant. There was no Jazz music whatsoever ever. £16 a head to go towards the band is far too much to be charging for band/arrangement that we saw. Being a professional performer myself and reading other reviews, this place is far OVERPRICED for what you get. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Felt very ripped off. We will not be returning. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ I had my mum in London for a couple of days on her last night I wanted to treat her to dinner with some live jazz music. When googling "Jazz restaurants" 606 Club popped up. I phoned and asked are they currently having live music at the moment due to the current situation and they said yes. I then heard the gentleman say its £6 per person to go towards the band that were playing that night. When arriving we were seated straight away without a booking (which was sweet). We ordered our food, drinks and dessert. Food was VERY VERY AVERAGE. I ordered steak and it was NOT NICE. My mum order sea bass which she did say was very nice. Dessert again was very average indeed. When coming ask for the bill I nearly had a heart attack. 2 main meals, 2 desserts, 3 wines & one coke cost us £105. Basically the bill should have been £72 (which is still pricey for what we got) but they charged an additional £16 per person to go towards the band. I said to the waiter I was told £6 and he said no its £16. Now personally as a performer I get that you have to pay for the band, but charging £16 per person for this is unnecessary, only if the band is a very renowned you should be charging that. It's a RIP OFF. THE BAND - Consisted of a lead singer, two guitarists, one bass guitar & a drummer. The band were not a Jazz band, they were your general giggling band. Very average as a whole. Not there fault to be performing in a "Jazz" restaurant as they were just booked. They only performed a couple of songs that we knew, rest were "original" poppy songs done in an acoustic version. Overall experience, NEVER AGAIN.

We were so happy to be back at this fabulous live music venue! We shared the nachos between three of us and there was plenty for us all whilst we waited for our main course with a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, served at just the right temperature! Two of us chose steak and chips - it was served medium well and melted in the mouth - tender and tasty with a delicious brown sauce and perfect chips! My friend chose Milanese Chicken and raved about the generous portion and crispy well dressed salad! We were too full for a dessert. The Noel McCalla Band were on blistering form and the 606 Club staff were welcoming and reassuring, providing us with an update on Covid regulations to ensure the safety of artists and guests. We can't wait to go back - long live LIVE music!

People seem to be getting confused and writing reviews for the venue on here but they have a different place for that so I’m sticking to a good only review here as that’s what it’s for I believe. I do t know whether you can just eat here when there’s no music on but we had a meal before watching Hamish Stuart and his band (it’s part of the licensing laws if you’re not a member and want to drink alcohol) but to be honest I’d eat here anyway. We shared the grilled goat’s cheese on ciabatta with a pecan, honey and chilli top and then I had the Thai chicken curry while my wife had the vegetarian burger. We both enjoyed the starter and I really like the Thai curry (I’d had it before) - it’s not particularly authentic and a touch too sweet but it’s actually pretty good although I’d drop the accompanying salad. My wife said her burger was “ok” but wish she’d gone for the salmon that the next table had, it did look very good and she’s trying to eat less meat. Desserts were very tempting, there’s not a huge choice but we’d have had any of them if we weren’t on pre-Christmas diets. It’s not haute cuisine but like the venue itself, it’s unpretentious and enjoyable.

This place may have great music but we were not privileged to hear any. On arrival we were informed that, if you are not a member, you must order a 'substantial' meal (we'd already eaten) or stand at the back with only soft drinks for comfort. This is actually mentioned on the website, if you take the trouble to scroll down the 'about' page. This should really be stated emphatically on the home page rather than hidden in the small print. Having read other reviews, it seems that the food is of a very poor standard in any case. I have visited dozens of jazz venues around the world and have never encountered anywhere else such a bizarre arrangement for the simple purpose of enjoying the music with glass of beer or wine.

We had the opportunity to have a few days up in Imperial Warf, and searched Tripadvisor for places to eat in the area. The 606 club came up and scored highly. Rightly so! What a wonderful place, a fantastic Jazz Club that serves really good food. Highly recommended, thank you for a memorable evening.

Visited with friends to see and hear the brilliant Tony O’Mally and his band. Whilst waiting we were able to order great food served at our table in this remarkable basement venue. The whole experience was a delight

The 606, if you catch the right act and are with a good crowd of like-minded souls, is a terrific place to while away a night. Good food, good jazz... impossible to get to if you have any kind of infirmity, however, as access is via a precipitous staircase. When you get downstairs, it's compact - you sidle between tables, the loos are cramped, but the vibe is brilliant.

My husband and I came here to see the wonderful Todd Sharpville (and guests). He was fantastic as ever but enhanced by the great atmosphere of this intimate space, the charming staff and delicious food. The chef went out of his way to accommodate my autoimmune diet grilling me a divine piece of fish. Huge thanks to everyone for a memorable and delightful evening. Highly recommend.

My husband is a big fan of jazz, so I thought it would be a great treat for him. I was very pleasantly pleased when we walked in a saw it was so intimate. Our table was very close to the stage, but most our. Food was good, my husband had the steak and I had the Thai curry. The Malbec wasn’t bad either. The Coalminers were performing on the evening and we thoroughly enjoyed the set. Staff were also very friendly. Great place, a shame we don’t live closer enough to warrant a membership to go more frequently.

Went to 606 simply because the friend I was meeting had a friend performing there - Simon Foster. No expectations but was bowled over by the great evening I had. Simon was brilliant - and together with some talented musicians reminded me how great live music can be. The venue is intimate, welcoming and very atmospheric. The food was amazing - go to 606 for the food alone. I had duck, which was amazing, as was the wine, as were the dishes my friends chose. Hate to say it, but I really didn't expect the food to be as good, but it really was. Also stunning was the level of service: lovely professional, friendly waiters who really did go out of their way to ensure you had a good evening. Things like filling your water jug without being asked may sound simple, but 606 could provide training to others on how to treat guests. Really nice crowd in, too. Looking forward to seeing Simon again with Arcelia and to returning to 606. A wonderful evening and no eye watering bills - very reasonably priced. Thank you 606.

First time I visited a great jazz club live music,great food,great relaxed atmosphere, the live music was a great way to be introduced to jazz,the staff here are fantastic and the food delicious will definitely go back.

El Club 606 es su agujero subterráneo típico con una atmósfera genuina de músicos, buena música y una gran pasión por la comida y el entretenimiento. Decidimos volver a visitarnos sabiendo que Beverley Skeete y Kevin Leo estaban de vuelta en el escenario, llegamos a las 8 pm y nos fuimos a la 1 am, fue una noche fabulosa y la pasamos muy bien. Sin duda volveremos a una de nuestras noches favoritas en Londres.

Quite often the food served at a great club does not match the level of the venue, but here is an exception. You must have a meal here if you want to hear the music, and you might have thought that was going to be their excuse to serve you something overpriced and average, but it is not the case!

Such a jewel. Beautiful music, fantastic atmosphere. Food was good. I will definitely be going back. We had a brilliant time. Intimate and special place.

Esta fue mi primera visita a la 606 club pero sin duda no será la última. Fuimos como parte de las celebraciones de mi 50 cumpleaños con amigos y superó nuestras expectativas. El ambiente es genial, porque el enfoque está en la música. La banda - Samara - y cantante - Liliana Chachian - eran increíbles! Disfrutamos de la comida, la quinoa y ensalada de cangrejo ensalada de mango y era muy sabroso. Mi marido tenía el bistec que realmente disfrutamos y yo tuvimos la salchichas y puré el cual se sirve con una gran chutney. El servicio y el personal era muy bueno a pesar de estar ocupados. Pero este club es todo sobre la música y que no podía haber sido mejor. Recomendaría el 606 a cualquiera que disfrute de música en vivo.

I went to 606 last night. I saw a great gig, superb New Orleans funk and Soul, truly excellent band and singer.The food was disappointing, unfortunately as customers we were forced to purchase dinner as part of the gig. The real issue was more serious though - As I was leaving, I looked through the window of the Kitchen door and I saw large mice crawling over the gas hobs presumably after the chef had cleaned down. I used to work in Kitchens so I understand vermin are a problem at many restaurants and that they are difficult to control but nothing really prepares you for the sight of them after you've finished eating food from a Kitchen where they are roaming free. Get pest control in to fix this and stop making it compulsory for all patrons to eat if they want to attend a gig.

I have known this club for 25 years but came back from Paris with my family and it hasn't changed. It's great atmosphere, cosy and lively, food is very good and staff very friendly. I highly recommend ! Benedicte

I last reviewed the 606 Club in 2012 and have been back half a dozen times, always liking the place. The layout and the décor has not changed, and the menu is much the same, more or less home cooking - sausage and mash, steak and chips, that sort of thing. Agreeable food, not much to write home about but I liked it.

Buscando lugares cena nuevamente así que decidimos probar el 606 club en un montón. 1 calle de julio. Un encantador ambiente íntimo ambiente de jazz "de verdad". Tuve plato principal vegetariano, muy buenos, y los otros tenían un bistec que aparentemente era muy buena con patatas maravilloso. Sin embargo, el jazz fue primer actor teniendo el mick. Apenas una canción durante todo este música espantosa. Le había oído en youtube, etc. y él parecía en general bastante bien. Sin embargo esta noche su música arruinó toda la noche. Hemos estado en Ronnie Scotts una cantidad y nunca han sido sometidos a este estilo de jazz/música ruines. Casi nos íbamos en el intervalo, pero pensamos que lo malo se puede conseguir! Cómo equivocada? Había un par de canciones vagas al final. Todo el personal era bueno y muy adecuado para el ambiente de este club y eran muy atentos.

Came to see the musician. I was repeatedly shoved out the way by staff who were apparently too busy just to say excuse me, even though I was standing in the place they had told me to stand. Was made to feel very unwelcome and quite frankly it ruined the mood for me so I left after the Second song.The manager was also very rude when I tried to ask a question, he cut me off before had finished my sentence and answered the question he assumed I was going to ask, which in fact was wrong. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.. well maybe if you look like you live in Chelsea and look rich/ dress up in the right way, they might treat you better.

A surprise for my wife turned out to be very much a pleasant surprise for me. Located in the basement along Lots road my eyes missed the clear sign to 606 as we were gawking at the redevelopment in Chelsea harbour. The website for 606 is very good giving you samples of the artist so it was easy to decide to listen to the Brandon Allen Sextet which was simply amazing. The 606 is a club so us non members are required to get a two/three course meal. I was made aware that with half a bottle of wine it would cost about £45/50 per person including the admissions fee of £14 per person for the show. Booking needs to be carried out by phone or email. I chose the latter and confirmation came within a day.When we arrived we pressed the bell and were allowed downstairs. We had arrived slightly early at 7.55pm and were the first to arrive. Luckily for us we received a table right at the front next to the stage. I was very happy!We were not expecting a emperor's banquet or Heston Blumenthal in the kitchen so we're not that dissapointed with the food. The starters of Cray fish and chicken liver pate were decent but nothing to be ecstatic about. The mains of pesto chicken with rice was a bit dry and bland but the steak, asked for medium rare, came as expected with a good searing outside and acceptably bloody inside. The fries were thinking with skin and tasted excellent. I would say a serving of ketchup and Mayonnaise would have been nice. I realise that I am a barbarian. Desert was a pear, chocolate and cardamon cake which was just wonderful. I had never thought of cardoman as part of a dessert but it infused a richness to the sweet chocolate and juicy pear that made us enjoy each bite. The coffee was an excellent accompaniment to keep us awake and went down quite pleasantly. The act starts around 9.30pm and there is a break after an hour. The show started again in a half hour and we had a great time until it finished at 12.20am! This is value for money and the Brandon Allen Sextet were amazing. There was variety, virtuosity and depth when they played together or by themselves. My wife and I were blown away. It does get a bit stuffy here as it was very popular on the Saturday. Also my wife suggested greater delicacy in the lighting which I agree with.With the Picadilly line being open 24 hours on weekends the 606 is now an achievable destination. We had a thoroughly enjoyable night and look forward to going back soon.

A very nice jazz club - with a good chance of a superb music experience in a cozy and warm atmosphere. I have been there a few times now and recommended it to friends – always with a remark about the food being somewhat on the boring side – the whole package absolutely makes it a great evening out.

The place is a little difficult to find for the first time. Once seated downstairs, we were hurried to take our coats to the waiting room, which seemed to be due to a space issue as the tables were crowded so close together that it was uncomfortable to eat.The food itself was nice, with decent starters. The wines we tried were nothing special and poor value for money. Service here was also a bit slow but they obviously needed more serving staff to cope with the number of tables they had squished in.The live jazz music was worth a visit for. Some real variety and talented musicians performing. The venue itself has an alcohol licence only with food, so that many people eating together in such a small space feels a bit crushed. Otherwise, a decent venue.

Attended a charity event at the 606 and enjoyed this throw back of a venue .doen into a cellar area you could imagine the place full of smoke a few years ago .the fist trio were so poor i wondered what was going on but as each set came and went each one got better.includwd in the ticket was a main course.the food was just awfull .quality,presentation everything .together with warm wine and not cheat either .thank heaven for the music.
