450above in Rotherham

No wheelchair access we were looking at starting a business venture there but with no disabled access it's not something that we are interested in

This is our favourite restaurant and we go regularly, we are always made to feel so welcome and looked after. The food is second to none and it beautiful everytime. Its the first choice for our birthday or any other celebration.

The quality of the food at 450 above is the best I ve had anywhere and we eat at many many places frequently whilst travelling. The steak is my favourite and is always cooked to perfection as is the Diane sauce! The service is always very attentive as well, friendly and never have a long wait for drinks or between courses. Would definitely recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed!

This is our favourite restaurant, the Sunday Lunch is by far the best I have ever had, every mouthful is an absolute delight to the point you will find us here every Sunday. The food is exceptional but so is the service with each member of staff friendly and very attentive. We are already looking forward to our next visit. I would sum up by saying the food is exceptional but in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

This place is a real hidden gem. The food is the best you'll find in Rotherham, fine dining at its best. Friendly and attentive staff always on hand. The Sunday lunch is the best I've ever had, and the mid week menu is amazing too. Definitely a rare find in Rotherham, which as an area tends to have a lot of "pub grub" type restaurants. Really good if you fancy something special, in a relaxed environment at a great price.

My wife and I enjoyed an amazing 3 course Sunday lunch recently. The portions are very generous. Having been to 450 above many times we have never had cause to complain about anything. The restaurant and atmosphere is a credit to the owners. Highly recommended.

We have been several times for Sunday lunch, superb chef & staff, excellent value for money. This is the place to go for a Sunday dinner!

We love this place, & especially for Sunday lunch where everything cooked to perfection & so tasteful . The food is first class & the staff are really friendly giving excellent service . And to top it all the prices are very reasonable . Only wished we lived closer .

On entering the restaurant we received a warm welcome. Lovely reception area to start the night have a drink and view the menu. We were aware that the menu was limited, but did think that only one option for vegetarians was poor. ( When I booked the waitress did get the chef to call me to discuss the vegetarian options) which I thought was a nice touch. In addition to this we couldn’t view the evening menu on line, so we’re a little surprised at the prices. It was just before 8pm when we arrived and there were were a few people in but when we were eventually seated there were only 2 tables with people seated, thus leaving the restaurant with no atmosphere at all. We ordered hassle back potatoes, which was delicious, however the portions were really small and we all commented on this. The 2 vegetarians had artichoke dish which again was lovely but extremely small for £18.95. One of the party ordered beef which they said was just okay and very disappointed that there were no additional vegetables with it. The real disappointment was the fish dish, a small portion of squid and vegetables ( the squid was tasteless apparently) the real issue was the piece of fish it was so small! For £20.95 it was a rip off. The total bill was £137.00 for 4 for one round of drinks and 2 courses for each person. We all eat out regularly so have a varied view on quality/ pricing etc. We thought it lacked atmosphere, portions too small, needed vegetables with the main course. We won’t be returning again. Just step outside and look at all the other restaurants on Bawtry Road, they were all heaving. I wonder why!!

A wonderfully upgraded Sunday menu especially for Easter Sunday, and it was superb. A warm welcome and a nice list of inexpensive wines, and a choice of food, to suit all tastes. We both had the pork starter, which was spot on I had lamb (a huge shank) and my hubby had salmon.all nicely finished off with passionfruit tart with lime ice cream, which I could have eaten forever, lovely flavourings,with melt in yhe mouth pastry. I love going here, the staff work hard to make sure you are happy with everything, it's unpretentious,fairly priced and excellent value.

Have been a few times for Sunday lunch so decided to come for Mother's Day. The staff are a real credit to this business, so friendly and attentive without being overbearing and worked their socks off on Sunday. Was a 3 course menu for £25 plenty of choice and quality of the food excellent. We all really enjoyed our meals... belly pork and the passion fruit tart absolute winners. I've knocked off a star because when I booked, I asked about the menu and was told it was the usual 2 course £16 and £20 for 3 courses yet wasn't the case when we arrived and wasn't shown on FB or Instagram menus, that being said it was still thoroughly enjoyable.

The food here is excellent: outstanding in fact. Really imaginative and beautifully executed and presented. For starters we had the potato and alliums, duck and mackerel. Mains included the pork, beef and chicken dishes: all showing different cuts and types of meat with delicious and intense sauces. The smoked potato terrine was brilliant, too. Desserts were carrot cake, passion fruit tart and a bavarois. Some of these dishes were some of the best plates I’ve had. It’s a real gem of a restaurant and well worth a visit.

An incredible meal in a great venue with fantastic owners. I cannot recommend this independent restaurant with its top quality seasonal menu and welcoming atmosphere enough. Rich and Nicola make this place the gem it is.

We had the valentines taster menu, each course was superb but the turbot with salted cucumber was divine. Richard the chef and owner is a little shy but a creative genius in the kitchen. We have never been disappointed here, you really should come and try it.

This is by far the best restaurant in wickersley/Tanyard i can't recommended it enough the staff really good the food fantastic no rushing the wine is good at a fair price unlike some of the surrounding restaurants 🤔🤔🤔

Very disappointed again with here, with poor advertising. Having had a poor experience here some years ago a friend suggested that we go. Looked at the online website to see opening times and food options. Upon attending we discovered that it was closed. My friend looked at the facebook page and found that they had decided to close until next year, fair enough, but why not publish on your main website as social media for many is not the first go to place and would expect information to be posted on the website. Very disappointing. Was willing to try again but clearly wont now.

What a treat! We've been trying to get to 450 Above for the past few years, but with the pandemic it's just not happened.... We finally made it today for a family birthday meal and every single person's food was delicious. Service was great with friendly staff and they even catered delicately for some quirky intolerances and picky eaters. All without a fuss... Thank you for the amazing food and we will see you again very very soon! 😘

We came yesterday for Sunday lunch after not been for a while because we were disappointed the last time we came about 18months ago ...so glad we did it was absolutely delicious , the gravy , the bread and dripping was excellent ..my hubby had chicken and I had the pork belly both very good ..vegetables were lovely , roast potatoes and parsnips were excellent and the gravy again to top it all off. Lovely staff , great service and a very good Irish coffee. Only criticism would be that we would have liked to see roast beef served pink on the menu instead of the braised beef.we will be back once you are open again

One if the best meals I've had in a long time. From the first mouthful of duck starter to the lamb main and berry dessert this was great.The service was excellent with a low key but safe covid environment.We will definitely be coming back.

This restaurant is most certainly worth a visit. The food was top notch and every course was a delight to eat and at reasonable prices. The waitresses were friendly and professional. We enjoyed our evening so much so, we have booked a table near Christmas because we didn't want the restaurant to book up and we miss out. (Shame the banana dessert wont be on the menu..)

This is the 3rd time we have visited since restaurants reopened. It was even better than before. We started with the lovely home made bread which is gorgeous. I had a carrot and goats cheese starter that was really good and the others all had squid that they raved about. For the mains we all tried a different dish and they were equally good mine was duck with cherries, again superb. The gin and tonic granita that came with the custard tart was different and just like g+t. Caramelised banana with chocolate ganache and banana ice cream - wow. This is fine dining in Rotherham at really reasonable prices. If you're thinking of trying it then do, you won't be disappointed. Lovely staff too and safely distanced tables. Please support this fantastic local restaurant.

Just enjoyed an excellent meal - chef obviously puts a lot of thought into the menus and takes great pride in the food he cooked and served to the diners. Waitress is also knowledgeable and shares pride in the food presented. Definitely recommended.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch after hearing fab reviews and not visiting in well over a year and we were all so impressed.The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us, all the COVID measures were in place so the restaurant feels safe. The starters and mains were absolutely delicious and the portions were spot on. All 4 of us rolled out home with full bellies for a Sunday snooze. We shall definitely be visiting again soon, thank you for the best Sunday lunch I've had in a while!

Since we came out of lockdown, we have been to 450 twice for dinner and really loved it. It was some time since we had had Sunday lunch out, so we decided it was time.Sunday lunch would seem a simple thing, everybody loves a Sunday roast and veg., but the variety out there is astounding from the good to the inedible. 450 do it excellently with superb ingredients and a cooking style in a different league to the run of the mill.Cherry tomatoes, grated goats cheese and tomato essence(consommé) are a light, delicious starter that sets up the appetite. Braised brisket for me, stuffed and rolled pork belly for Sheila with Yorkshires and all the trimmings. Smooth, buttery mash tasting of potato not wallpaper paste; fresh, tasty veg still with texture not limp and cooked to death and well risen Yorkshire luxuriating in a red wine gravy. All this and a lovely bottle of Malbec. What could be better?I make no apologies for repeatedly reviewing 450, it has never let us down. Our independent, local restaurants should be cherished and publicised. They hold the middle ground between the ultra expensive Michelin Star restaurants and the over processed and bland chains. Despite it feeling more like dining with family rather than a commercial business, we have NEVER been offered an inducement to give a favourable review, they are more honest than that. I invite anyone to check my profile and previous reviews if they doubt my integrity. The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is accessibility.

Not been here for a while but had been hearing good things of late so decided to book.The food was awesome. I had the pork dish and I can honestly say it was the most tasty, succulent meat I have tasted in a while. The whole presentation of the plate was mouthwatering and I thoroughly enjoyed it.Others on our table enjoyed the lamb dish, the cod and a steak (can’t remember specifically which steak dish). We were all blown away by the standard. The starters were all lovely as well. As was the wine and beer selection.The decor is a little dated compared to other venues in Wickersley but this shouldn’t put you off. If you love food, especially meat you should visit this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.The staff couldn’t do enough for you. 10/10

We have often visited this restaurant on an evening but today we experienced Sunday lunch for the first time and were not disappointed. The food was the usual high standard, the portions were generous and the price was very reasonable. Everything was beautifully presented and served in the usual professional but friendly way. COVID measures were in place and we felt very safe. A wonderful experience yet again.

We were pleased to finally get a booking at 450 as we had tried for a while before lockdown and then finally managed to get one. We now see why they are often fully booked as we had a lovely evening with very attentive and friendly staff at our service. The atmosphere was lovely although when a large group came in, it did get rather loud. All safety aspects were clear and there was plenty of sanitiser around. Our food was delicious. It was presented to a high standard. We loved the complimentary breads. The dessert was lovely. We will certainly visit again in the future.

Fantastic food at reasonable prices. Good for special occasions

Visited last weekend after not having been for ages. We will definitely be back again soon.Firstly I must say the COVID restrictions and precautions taken by the restaurant were great, not too over the top but we felt safe.I had the crab salad starter, which was wonderful, lovely combination of flavours. In fact for every course, the flavours of all parts of the dishes together really worked.Main of lamb rump, with black pudding puree etc was again divine.Eccles cake dessert with ice cream and a slice of lemon rind on top, I thought this might not work but it did.Our last meal of this sort of standard was Restaurant Sat Bains last year. I think any of the courses my wife and I had at 450 Above could easily have featured on Sat Bains menu, but at a fraction of the cost.Best restaurant in South Yorkshire!

Booked a table on a last minute whim, having not been here for months, so glad we did.We started with homemade bread and beef butter - wow that was so good I could have just had that and been happy. I had tomato and goats cheese starter which was mainly tomato but was absolutely fantastic, the pork main was good and the dessert - pistachio sponge, yoghurt parfait and cherries was devine. The food is great, slightly different and all the flavours work really well together. Must have a very good chef. Fantastic value and to have this in Rotherham is amazing. I hope they get the support from customers they deserve, after what undoubtedly has been a difficult time. We will definitely be back.

Superb Sunday Lunch on 1 March, perfection on a plate.

Visited for Sunday lunch, and was left disappointed with a place we normally rate highly. After being seated at the table it took about 30 mins to be asked what we’d like to drink, and then just as long for food. The food was of ok standard, we’ve had better there. The overall experience felt us feeling let down by one of our favourite places. We won’t be visiting for a while I’m afraid.

Car very was cold, poorly cooked, roast potatoes were deep fried and cold. Good quality meat but cold. Cook should spend six months at Macdonalds to part learn his trade. Extremely disappointed

Visited for a friends birthday meal all of us (6 people in party) had the Sunday set menu which was definitely value for money in my eyes two courses £15 or three courses £20 but there were other menus to choose from. Great atmosphere, warm welcome and fantastic food, wouldn’t hesitate to go back and couldn’t fault a thing from entering to leaving .. worth a visit

We had the set menu on Valentines night! Excellent value for money - 7 courses for £45. Each course was really good, but the highlight for me... The crispy oyster with the fish course! Divine!!!

For the second year we went for a meal on Christmas Eve. However we were very disappointed to find a choice of Sunday dinner or steak. The two young girls were friendly however seemed a little under qualified. The food was nice but nothing special and we all left a little disappointed. I'm afraid next time we will be looking for a different restaurant

The staff here are very welcoming every time we come. The Christmas decorations that have been put up are great and a nice little touch too. We both had the sirloin steak which tasted sensational and was cooked just how we wanted, the chips and onion rings that came with this were amazing. For dessert we had the caramelised white chocolate cheesecake which was incredible. Hats off to the new chef, you can tell he puts a lot of effort into his work and is the reason why we will be returning again!

I have written reviews of 450 Above before but their consistently high standards are worthy of another write up. We have spent 4 years trying all of the rated restaurants across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Lincoln (and many between). Time and time again in the last year or so, we have come back to 450 Above, as quite simply the best. Best for food qualitry and creativity, best for service and best for value for money. The rotating seasonal menus are always a delight. Last night (my birthday meal) we had a rabbit liver parfait with hollandaise and smoked salmon on a whipped mascapone. We both went for the ox cheek with bone marrow mash and creamed celeriac. it was outstandingly good. Never has been being diabeic been any harder than watching my wife eat white chocolate cheesecake with hazelnut Brittle & caramalised white chocolate ice cream whilst I was drinking coffee!Service is relaxed and really friendly but without the very long gaps you get at some restaurants. They even catered for the times when my diabetes sevrely restrcted what I could eat. and the staff/kichen remembered my restrictions when we revisited (luckily now under better control) . Where else do you get that kind of personal service? Normally the food and service post mortem on the drive home from other restaurants revolves around what was disappointing. No such discussions on the drive home from 450, just a conclusion that this is, by some distance, the best restaurant in South Yorks and asking when we could go back. The answer is both Christmas eve and New Years eve, and we are taking friends! .

I came here for my birthday with a few of my friends and the service was amazing, we had a lady refilling our wine for us and making sure we had everything we needed, the food was absolutely gorgeous, so tasty! We all had different meals and each loved them all & I will definitely be returning!

Took the family for Sunday lunch..... the food was Devine and the staff very friendly and helpful. Thankfully the bar has been moved which was a big gripe for me as was a waste of space for diners.The owners appear to be having a real go at it fantastic food a very reasonable prices.WELL DONE.

Me and my boyfriend came in on thursday and ordered steak, we ordered without the tomato and mushrooms which wasn’t a problem for the chef, and the steak was cooked exactly how we wanted! We will definitely be returning❤️

We dined here tonight, 5 adults 2 children. We all ordered food that we'd never tried before, even the children tried the octopus, the partridge and the turbot. Each plate of food had a wow factor. We all had a fantastic dining experience celebrating my daughters graduation. Compliments to the chefs.

Me my wife and some friends went here for a meal, First off it wasn't hugely clear how to get up to the place, and secondly the menu was incredibly limited, the staff were amazing and really tried to cater for us but when the waitress tried to accomodate for the vegetarian in our group by seeing if the chef could do anything for her, she came back and said the chef was only doing whats on the set menu.... it really wasn't worth going there, and the pricess for the food were massively exedurated for the quality of the cuisine. I could understand if it was fine dining, but the food was average and it was comparable to a pub meal, although they were small portions to seem classier whilst saving them a few quid.

Nice place, friendly and knowledgeable staff. English cuisine.

Me & my husband have visited this restaurant many times but tonight is the first time for a while,we were pleasantly surprised with the new decor it looks 100% better.There is a new chef & new menu which is amazing I highly recommend the pork belly he works extremely hard on his own but it shows in his food,top notch!! The service is also excellent & is the best in wickersley at the moment I highly recommend.

Went for a family birthday last saturday evening. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Three in our party wished to have the chicken main course but didnt like parsnips and this was changed to tenderstem broccoli for us. Great menu with new things to try and very good value for 3 courses including pigeon and octopus. Our meals were presented beautifully and we had a relaxing night with no rush inbetween courses. We also had fresh bread with almond butter on the table - delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend for a special meal.

We came here for dinner on a Friday night & i expected it to be really busy but there was only 5 or 6 tables full. I really don't know why though as the 3 courses we had were all lovely. My lamb main dish was really tasty. Will definitely be coming back as it was great value & they even take tastecard.

I had not been to 450 in a long time due to bad experiences in the past. After seeing the advert in the town magazine and hearing good reviews about the new owners and new chef there I decided to give it another go. I met up there with an old uni friend for a nice meal and a catch up and we were not disappointed.

If you can get passed the challenging outside staircase (particularly in torrential rain) then the internal 2 or 3 steps may well prove to be less arduous. However,  the irony of the disabled access handles in the ladies loo won't be lost on anyone with mobility problems.

booked this restaurant to treat my wife for our 20th wedding anniversary, what a great choice! Food was excellent quality and good value, not a cheap night but a quality meal for good price, 3 course meal for 2 pre- dinner drinks bottle of wine under £100. Staff were attentive but not overly fussy, which was perfect. Highly recommend you go, you will not regret it, we will be going again.

For the price, the food and overall experience was excellent! Offers a small but varied and fresh Menu. Dishes were all tasty and very well presented. To access you do need to walk up an external staircase which could be a challenge for people with mobility problems. Inside the decor is clean and well maintained if a little bland. The dining room had a nice buzz but there is plenty of room between tables, so it didn’t get unpleasantly loud or hot.

We have been thinking of booking this place for a number of years but never got round to it. What a mistake. The whole evening was super We enjoyed all the courses from the menu but the lamb dish was incredible. Won’t be long before we go back. Hoping the Rib Eye steak matches the quality of food this time.

On arrival we was greeted by Georgia who made our visit very welcoming. The food was sensational for the price we paid. I would definitely recommend 450 to a friend and I cannot say a bad word about the place. Thanks for a brilliant meal!

So much taste, best meal I've had in a long time.

Recently moved to the area so tried this place for first the time due to great reviews. I had the mackerel for starters it was fantastic and then the duck which I asked to change the potato to hand cook chips instead and the restaurant was very accommodating. We went early at 6:30pm so we were the only ones there the deco is nice. The only fault was the dessert I choice chocolate orange sponge the sponge was quite dry and it looked like something you got at school dinners a piece cut out of a square baking tray it was served with a melting ice granita they didn’t go together at all. Would come back but please change the chocolate dessert

Delicious sunday lunch and very accommodating for a last minute booking

I felt that there was a lot of emphasis on the presentation (the food looks beautiful) but less on the taste. The meal we had was nice, but I wasn't blown away by it. We went for a special occasion, so I was hoping for really special food and was a little disappointed. The service was ok, but again nothing out of the ordinary, mainly young, experienced waiting staff, doing their best. I guess if you're just going out for a meal out with no expectations it would probably be fine, but I wouldn't get too excited about it.

Came in on a sunday for a sunday lunch with a friend, was greeted by the friendly waitresses who sat us in the waiting area and took our orders. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was too. Price was amazing, £10 for a sunday dinner plus your drink costs. Highly recommend, will come again!
