4 Locos Argentine Steakhouse in Croydon

Our first experience here was an unexpected pleasure. Great food, great staff and on our doorstep. Will definitely visit again.

Great place to have a steak. We had a platter for two and the meat was perfectly cooked to the level we asked for. Chimichurri and peppercorn sauces added a nice touch to the meat taste. Prices are very reasonable and the only reason our bill went quite up was due to the amount of wine we ordered. Our waiter looked a bit lost: he asked a few times what we were ordering and he didn't see us when we were waving to him a few times. However, one of the owners saved our service: a very attentive gentleman, providing us with good suggestions on the wine selection and in general ensuring that we had everything needed.

I had low expectations of a restaurant in Croydon but was very pleasantly surprised - the food was wonderful! I love steak and have recently paid £80-90 for one that was nowhere near as good as this. Bargain!

The best Argentinian restaurant in London. As an Argentinian I always struggle to find a place that serve food like at home… that was until last night. Everything was absolutely incredible. We started with a provoleta and then we went for a parrillada for 3. Everything was cooked to perfection and transported me back to a bodegón in Buenos Aires. The waitresses were really nice and were on top of everything, from checking on us to cleaning the table once we were finished. 4 Locos will be my go-to place for dinner with friends or to show people our culture.

Great place to eat steak! Lovely atmosphere! Had a tomahawk steak was a bit under uncooked for a medium rare however it was nice. And a really good bit of meat! Bit expensive but all the steaks we had looked really nice! Will definitely return! If you like you’re meat medium rare I’d say go medium 👌

Me and girlfriend decided to have a spontaneous dinner date out and we came across this gem in south London called 4 locos. From when we entered the ambience , decor and polite staff blew us away . We were then greeted with our drinks which were the perfect combination of sweet and strong which is how we love them and to put the cherry on top the steak was cooked to perfection . We were served by the lovely lidia who was attentive , educated in the menu and polite and funny . I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning in a larger group . I had a prime cut of steak but they have two lower cheaper alternatives of size plus me and my partner shared a starter and had two cocktails each hence the price listed .

Not the best, been to a lot better steak houses. Wouldn’t return. Too expensive for what you get

My family member went to this restaurant and now decided to order dinner and we ordered 2 Ribeye steak and asked for them to be well done. The food was ordered on Deliveroo on 09/12/2023 and when we received it my family member was very shocked of the quality of both Ribeye steak they were not well done it was bloody. I had a stomach upset. My family member reported to Deliveroo but did not offer a refund. I gave a low score because of the poor quality of the steak. I am currently on steroids and have to stay in but when I am well I will go and speak to the manager about the food and the meat upsetting my stomach. Photos enclosed.

Excellent service, food was good. My 18oz steak was butterflied. The made a perfect steak not so good. Medium was well done and Rare was perfect. The sides are nothing special. Price was High compared to other steak houses. Not a bad day tbh

A dinner we won't forget! The steaks were delicious, the atmosphere friendly and the service super fast. Moreover, the waitress went above and beyond, and explained to us in great detail the difference between the different steak types. A highly recommended place!

Second time visiting in 2 months. Absolutely fantastic food. Steaks are to die for and the cocktails are fab. Was my birthday so even got a candle in some ice cream for fun.

Second visit and it just got better! Can’t fault the food or the service and the cocktails are 10/10. Made such a fuss of us for our birthdays. Can’t wait to come back again with friends

We went to 4 Locos for a birthday meal on a sunday lunchtime and although they didn't take any effort over the birthday element of the booking everything else was of the highest quality. Steaks were superb cuts and cooked to perfection even for the more fussy in our party. My only issues were related to the side orders. When you are paying over £50 for a steak I would really think a side sauce could be included and £4 for a soda is just an utter rip off

Called in on the off chance of a table. Staff were really accommodating and helpful with menu choices. Food was incredible, give it a try.

Absolutely amazing steak!!! I'm an avid steak lover and I must say that this is one of the best I've ever had! I got the tomahawk which was about 900g and it came which 2 sides of my choice! The steak and truffle fries are a MUST TRY! The atmosphere was also amazing and it was serene! It cost around £80 which was a fair price as it fed 3 people.

Such a great place, been visiting a while and almost always get the steak, great atmosphere, all the starters are amazing and the staff are great too. No cons, just a guaranteed great night everytime!

Great lunch, our server was a little disinterested and appeared as though he wanted to be somewhere else which was a shame, his lack of attentiveness was disappointing as my friend likes steak and we were celebrating her birthday. Also noted lunch was a birthday celebration when booking, there was absolutely no sign that this note was acknowledged, no special effort made.

Good food and welcoming and friendly staff. Those that had steak/burgers said their food was excellant and cooked how they liked it (I’m not a steak fan). My pork ribs were good but the chicken wings could have been better. Salad was excellent. However the chips were dire. Arrived heavily salted: whether to put salt on your chips should be customer choice and not done by the chef. It spoilt an otherwise excellant meal.

As per usual the food was as brilliant as always, Looking forward to coming again shortly., My 4 Locos Burger was superb as was my wife’s. fillet Steak, As per usual the desserts were great, I loved my termaso as always whilst my wife enjoyed her dessert to. Hope to you soon.

Been here a couple of times this year (previously visited several years ago, when it was Buenos Aires) and have not been disappointed. Wonderful, perfectly cooked steaks, generous portions, delicious wines and desserts. It does take some time for the food to come but it is worth the wait.

We are coming here for years, best steaks in the area and love the cocktails. Burger is delicious too and you can see that staff love their job!

Came as a group of 4 to celebrate a birthday. Mainly on the recommendation of other reviews. We were certainly not disappointed. It has a lovely atmosphere, we were warmly greeted by all the staff and offered a choice of tables. Service was swift, courteous and attentive without being intrusive. Shared some light bites, my personal favourite was the black pudding, which was simply some of the best black pudding I’ve ever tasted. We had a sharing plate for two, and a fillet and sirloin with sides. Bring your appetite, the servings are very generous. The steak was absolutely spot on, well cooked to our order. In summary, the food here is just brilliant. It is well worth visiting, and you will not be disappointed. It also represents very good value for money. Thanks for looking after us so well.

We arrived as a group of 5 without a booking at a busy time, but we were lucky and the team were able to gather some chairs and fit us in ! I wouldn't recommend taking this approach ! Awesome food - several of my group said it was the best steak they had ever had (they had rib eye) - the service was attentive but not invasive - overall a really great experience !

The Best Argentine in Europe. How lucky they are in London to be able to count on a true Argentine, for quality, passion and quantity. You eat well and they serve you even better. The food has supreme quality, there is no other like it on the entire Island. I recommend it 100%. This Argentine Grill is like Big Ben, a visit to London is incomprehensible without visiting it. The menu is extensive, they serve quickly, they have a varied selection of wines and the service is friendly. Quality beer, well decorated premises and in a quiet and safe area. I advise you to book! Thanks to the entire team, and especially to Diego Prisco, who made us have a great evening! So much so that we returned the next day! Thanks sir! El Mejor Argentino de Europa. Què suerte tienen en Londres de poder contar con un verdadero Argentino, por calidad, pasiòn y cantidad. Comes bien y te sirven todavìa mejor. La comida tiene una calidad suprema, no hay otro igual en toda la Isla. Se lo recomiendo 100%. Este Asador Argentino es como el Big Ben, no se entiende una visita a Londres sin visitarlo. La carta es extensa, sirven ràpido, oferta variada de vinos y el servicio es amable. Cerveza de calidad, local bien decorado y en zona tranquila y segura. Les aconsejo Resevar! First time at this amazing restaurant. The whole family absolutely loved it. Service was the best that we have received in a very long time. Our waitress was so polite, professional and attentive. I dropped my napkin on the floor, and not wanting to waste it - I picked it up off of the floor. She brought a new replacement within seconds! The food was very good, and we loved the look and atmosphere of the restaurant. I would highly recommend this fabulous restaurant to all. Meal for four, including starters came to £125 including 12.5% service charge.

Came here for a combined birthday/Easter Sunday lunch, having really enjoyed their excellent takeaway food during lockdown. My daughter had the kids meal which was really good value, and we had the parrillada Argentina which was amazing. The meat is always high quality and cooked perfectly. Desserts are great too. Will be back for more!

This is my first visit to 4 Locos Argentine Steakhouse and I'm looking forward to come back there again. I have tried Sunday's special mixed grill offer. It was fabulous 👌 Meat was perfectly cooked to our liking, nice selection of vegetables and chips. We are big eaters and we were unable to finish it all (two people) we have also ordered some bread and extremely great tasting olives 🫒 (you must try the olives) cocktails were yummy and the service was absolutely outstanding. Definitely added restaurant to my favourites! Can't wait to try more meals on the menu!

One of if not the best burger that I have ever had! Food arrived very speedily and staff were more than polite and professional. Would 100% recommend and I will certainly be returning sometime soon.

Very disappointed. Felt robbed, wasted £80 for 2. Wasted a well deserved night out. Steaks were below average, no taste. If you cannot afford to provide high quality steaks with your platters, don’t do it. I would rather spend more and get better. Chips were okay. Mac and cheese was not good. The squid was decent. Sauces were not good either… was planning to come on the Sunday to try the ribs but no thank you. And the sirloin couldn’t of been more tough! Chew chew chew.

Amazing service, amazing food and accommodated us with a 6 month old baby. Love this place and will definitely go again. Also loved the decor. Edit: long term we’ve been getting takeaways from here. The food is unbelievably nice and the portions are great. Ribs and the off the bone chicken are out of this world

My friend and I visited the restaurant for a steak dinner. The food was alright except my ribeye steak had gristle in it so I was unable to eat the whole steak. Towards the end of night many people came to the restaurant and as a result of their loud talking it was difficult to hear my friend voice.

Love this place, the food is always excellent. Visited 2 weeks ago and service was as good as ever. Recommended to my friend visiting for a family birthday and she bought her parents here last Saturday. The service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and a little birthday dessert was the perfect end to their meal. If you like your steak cooked to perfection this is it !

Fabulous food, cocktails, wine and service. A brilliant local restaurant which I'm so happy to have on our doorstep! They make great negronis (amongst many other cocktails) and all the food my husband and I had was fabulous. It was so good that I was back a week later with a friend! Particular highlights were the heart of rump steak, signature burger, dolce de leche cheesecake, lemon sorbet with limoncello on the side and the house red wine. Oh and also, the side salad instead of fries is really good.

We have eaten here multiple times, and in all likelihood would do again. The food is always great. The steaks are cooked as requested, and we always come away saying how much we enjoyed it. However, last night we were massively let down by the service at the end. We had booked a table for later in the evening, and by 8:30/8:45 we were the only table left in the restaurant. We had ordered a round of drinks when we arrived, and with our main meal we ordered a bottle of wine. By the time we finished our main meal, we still had 3/4 of the bottle of wine, and it was just coming up to about 9pm. We thought that we could have a nice, relaxing time enjoying our wine as at no point had we asked that our starter and main all be served and completed by 9. We were asked if we wanted desert, which we declined and got on with talking and enjoying the wine. At about 9:10 we were presented with the bill, whilst we still had half a bottle of wine along with the comment of "no rush". If only this was true. Within 5 minutes the staff member was there asking if I was ready to pay. I told them "no" and that I would pay once we had finished our wine. Fast forward another 15-20 minutes and again they were back with the card machine asking if we were ready to pay. By this stage, I had had enough (we still had wine in the bottle) and paid the bill. We finished our wine and left. I do appreciate that staff would like to get home, especially if there is only 1 table in the restaurant. If that is the case, don't take late bookings and then try and force people out, after only an hour. What would have been a lovely evening, was ruined by this behavior.

The service was attentive and the steaks were fabulous, succulent and cooked to perfection. The house wine was excellent as well.

My two brothers and their wives joined Ann and I for a meal at the 4 Locos, Purley. Ann and I have eaten here before (though not recently - we live too far away!) As before the food and service was excellent. The steaks (sirloin and ribeye) were wonderfully tender and tasty, the starters were good as were the desserts. I wish we lived closer!!

I took my little sister for dinner as our birthday treat. We shared the La Maroma platter. It was great value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We both had the Hot Chocolate Pudding and it was so good! The waitresses were very friendly, especially Anna. Her service was exceptional and she made my sisters day by putting candles in our desert and singing Happy Birthday to us. You made a 10 year old girl very happy. Thank you to the team!

The decor doesn't feel like a steakhouse, but hands down the best steaks around, as good as the best-known ones in Mayfair. What a find!

Look up reviews of a Steak restaurant and 4 Locos did not disappoint in any way. Great food and very good service from Renata. We all had great steaks my Son's 18th Bday and we had one of the sharing platter. Chicken escalope was so big we took half home. Good beer with chilled glasses. They were also busy with delivery guys. Highly recommend.

Absolutely to AVOID !! The steak was well cooked though, but….they scam people with the sharing plates. It’s a pure SCAM…they display the price on the sharing plates, but at the end they will charge that price for each person who ate at that plate. Everything is overpriced also, specially the cheap wines they have. If you eat there, they will make you pay like you eating in a Michelin Star restaurant in Mayfair or Soho…and they definitely are far away of that kind. Also, if you complain something to them, they use to call the chef from the kitchen and try to intimidate you. Absolutely regret my visit there.

I was recommended to visit this steakhouse as I am a massive steak lover and I was not disappointed. The food was amazing, the restaurant was nice and cosy and the staff were friendly and courteous. I would definitely return and I would recommend it as well 😊

I love steak 🥩 and the steak I had was very good, people just need to know if you are getting a large one like the 18oz I had it will take sometime to have it cooked well done which is my preferred way of having it cook I know a lot people will said steaks shouldn't be cooked that way but everyone is free to have it the way they like it. Service was good and would happily go back.

Last time we dined here was pre-covid. Decor has changed and it seems brighter and more spacious. The steaks are fantastic, I ordered medium (which looked more medium/rare to me) but tasted great. Service was excellent with a good choice of starters, side dishes and drinks. I would recommend although be aware that the drinks are a tad pricey.

The best steakhouse in the area!

We went here for a spontaneous local dinner on Sunday. We went for their sharing platter for 2 which was great value and really tasty. The cocktails were very good! Dare I say the best cocktails in Purley. The staff was so friendly and helpful, they even moved us to another table when we accidentally knocked down our drink. If you're thinking about going just go you won't regret it.

Perfect customer service. They have children's menus that are very good. It gets a little expensive at the end with the tip, taxes, drinks and desserts, but it's worth it if you like meat.

The food was delicious, but it lacked atmosphere. We were sat in the back of the restaurant next to the storage cupboard. This may have been fine if the kitchen staff didn't keep going in and out, or if it wasn't our wedding anniversary meal. It's a shame because I don't think we will be back any time soon.
