Experienced a lovely lunch in one of the pods accompanied by our dog. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend it especially when you include your family pet. Will definitely return again.

I pre booked a dome for 8pm on a late Autumn night. Having been previously in daylight we were keen to try them at night. Lovely setting, the waitress brought us a little touch lamp so we could read our menus better. Heater and blankets also provided. Service was quick and efficient. Always someone ensuring we were okay for drinks. We had 3 courses each, food was great quality and pipingg hot. The dessert was massive we couldn't manage to finish them, had we known they'd have been the size they were we'd have ordered one between two. £20 deposit for dome is taking off overall order. Was happy to donate to Ayrshire Hospice. We had 2 drinks and 3 courses each and it was around £80. Feel that's reasonable for the food and service we received. Love it here and will return.

Everything about the lunch at this restaurant was enjoyable.Staff pleasant and helpful.We were a party of five and we all enjoyed the excellent food.Plates were generous and well presented.Good value for money.I would definitely recommend and return.

Voller Erwartung und auf Empfehlung unseres Gastgebers sind wir ins Fox and Willow essen gegangen. Der erste Eindruck war sehr gut, modernes Restaurant, höffliches Personal und alles in allem sehr gut anzusehen. Wir wurden im Wintergarten, am Fenster platziert. Das 1. Problem...es hat da sehr gezogen und es wurde sehr schnell unangenehm kalt. Der Service machte seine Arbeit sehr gut und die Getränke kamen sehr schnell an den Tisch. Dann kamen wir zum Essen das 2. Problem.... 1 vorspeise die okay war, gebackener zwigenkäse auf kalten zwiebelchutney...dann zum hauptgang,ein burger und steak&ale . Das burgerfleisch sehr trocken und der burger in allem sehr ungewürzt und die pommes 2-3 mal schon in der fritte gewesen (dunkel und kross), durch den Zug am Fenster wurde auch alles sehr schnell kalt. Mein Steak & Ale war so lale, daß Fleisch sehr trocken und die Soße hatte glaube auch besuch von Dr. Maggi gehabt. Das Püree war schon kalt als es zum Platz kam und sehr säuerlich und fest und was ich gar nicht verstehe das man bei Schoten den kompletten Strunk dran lässt. . Naja... für fast 67£ für 2 Ale,1 Wasser, 1 heiße Schoki, 1 Vorspeise und 2 hauptgänge ist das ganz schön happig bei der Qualität.

Two excellent meals last week in this lovely restaurant Food was excellent and the staff were very attentive and friendly The only minus was there was an issue with parking & it was slightly expensive I would certainly go back the next time I'm in Ayr

Booked the fox for a friend’s 60th birthday for 20 afternoon teas. Cake stands were brought out and no mention what anything was . 2 sausage rolls , 2 small filled rolls and 2 quiches for 4 people. I asked the male waiter what the quiche filling was and he replied ‘ leek , cheese and asparagus ‘ I said they taste like sugar has been added . He replied don’t be ridiculous and I replied ….taste them . He replied I’m not tasting them ! Then he said I will get you some sausage rolls. He returned with about 10 small sausage rolls . The fillings in the rolls were odd with a strange dressing . The panna cotta was passable and the toasted scones were ok ( toasted for a reason ) ?? The other cakes were indescribable. The first 6 of us that ordered alcoholic drinks , they didn’t have 4 of what were asked for . No Gordon’s Gin. No captain Morgan’s rum. No Smirnoff vodka . How strange ! Offered tea and coffee several times and the birthday girl was missed out time after time ( crown on and a sash so hard to miss ) No mention of birthday or anything else. Cake stands dumped and that was it . £20 a head and £7.50 for a GNT . Toilets had no water to wash our hands . Waitress said it was getting fixed ??? Service charge added to bill . We grudgingly paid it and left . Def won’t be back , so disappointed !!!

Well what a breakfast that was !!! Plate was hot as was the food and all really fresh ingredients.The amount you get on your plate was amazing!! The 2 servers today's were lovely,nothing too much trouble for them and they look as though they are enjoying their work....smiles all the way...so nice to see.We had our table in the new extension inside whi h was bright and airy and beautifully decorated. The owners have done a wonderful job of upgrading this establishment.....and....we'll definitely be be back...soon. Thank you Fox!!

Visited the fox and willow coming from Glasgow for a Saturday afternoon birthday celebration with friends. We had booked one of the Domes and had a great time from start to finish. A special recognition and praise for the service in particular Stacy who was extremely professional but personable and friendly. The food, drinks and overall value for money was excellent. Worth a visit.

We arrived as a party of 6,we were seated at our table and ordered our drinks in a timely manner, placed our food order of 3 starters and 6 mains. Starters were brought out in good time, however the mains were over an hour which was frustrating as there were many staff floating around, a polite apology on the wait time would have went a long way. All in all the food was ok however my main creamy fish curry which was supposed to comprise of king prawn and hake yet had not one king prawn, very disappointing and also the honey and coriander buttered naan bread resembled a small branded supermarket bought naan again not very good. As we were guests and we're being taken to dinner as a treat we didn't want to complain as we felt this would have been rude. I can't speak for the other diners but I expected a lot more. If the proper ingredients aren't available the dish should be pulled, not substituted without informing diners, King prawn was the main attraction as was the honey coriander buttered naan. I am also not a fan of service charges being automatically added (although I know this can be wavered) to the bill even though we didn't pay. A tip should be earned without the feeling of guilt where expectations weren't met.

Recently went with family to have dinner in one of the pods. The pods are a great idea however if I’d have known in advance I was booking a glorified kennel to eat in I’d have given it a wide berth. Whilst eating my dinner (which was incidentally nice) people in the neighbouring pods were feeding their two dogs off the dining table. Frankly that made my stomach turn at the thought of what could and probably has been going on in our pod before we occupied it. Dog slobber and hair should never be allowed in an eating establishment . They may wipe the tables between guests but I don’t see any vacuuming and disinfecting of seats and floors so still essence of dog in the pod when you’re paying damned good money to eat (£70 per head spent) Following on from this when we left the restaurant car park it resembled dodging your way through a scene from Crufts. Is it seriously necessary to bring your choice of pet to restaurant with you? Can these people honestly not leave their mutts at home for even a couple of hours ? The food and service was good but nope I won’t be back and I doubt very much this policy will change as the owner/manager clearly encourages and enjoys this manky practice . Also charging an 8% service charge is ridiculous. A tip is a gratuity based on service level not a demand forced on your guests. Just hope the staff actually get all the tips that go through the card machine !

Dined here to celebrate our friends anniversary. Setting is great, food was great, service /staff was great. My second time here and both my visits have been amazing. Will be returning again soon. Highly recommend

Happened across this gem on a walk around Ayr and so glad I did . Front of house very polite and attentive not to long a wait till I was shown to my table either. Ordered the homemade steak pie and am I glad I did . The steak was so melt in your mouth and not one of those takes longer to chew than cook places absolutely delicious , only downside was that veg was a bit hard for me but still ate it . I will be dining here again.

Knocked it bout the park again, excellent food and excellent service. Great touch having the magician on the floor tonight, but the best was the music, love singing and fantastic tunes.

I was here for dinner two weeks ago. I booked and paid the required £20 deposit to reserve a Dome. It wasn’t till we got home, that I noticed they had not deducted our deposit from the bill. It’s more the principle rather than the money, that they never followed up on their inquiry which is below. Very disappointing from “Margaret” who ever she may be? I’m still waiting on that phone call. And the number I provide is correct. It dose t look good if this is how the management treat their customers Apologies for the deposit not being deducted. Before writing this review I want to make it clear that I am a chef of 30 years experience . One item we ordered was a margarita pizza which arrived absolutely covered in a very thick layer of CHEDDER! I sent it back and asked for an explanation from one chef to another. I was told that the chef had not had mozzarella for days so they used chedder which apparently is common practice for the Fox and Willow. Shocking practice and disgusting pizza. Also one of our wine glasses had a chip in it and wasn't clean so I left my wine too and brought this to the waiters attention. No apology from the manager or the chef. Both walked passed us whilst looking in the other direction to us so that they didn't have to engage or apologise whilst leaving the restaurant and going home early. The waiter said it was terrible how we were treated and phoned the manager to ask what to do by way of adjusting the bill. We were told that instead of paying for the food and a full bottle of wine we only had to pay for the food and 2 large glasses of wine. This took about £4 off our bill. This was a horrendous experience and to top it off our dome had a broken zip. I'm not surprised that they are getting less and less custom. They deserve to lose trade. We will never return!

Visited The Fox and Willow on the afternoon of Saturday, 6th April for a friend's 60th birthday lunch. We had a choice from a set three course meal. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the meal. I had never been before but would certainly recommend to others. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful too. Thank you!

The Cajun popcorn was a great starter. The KFC was also a good starter. The chicken and ham hocks were good. The sea bass entree was excellent. The desserts were very good also.

Absolutely amazing visit to The Fox and Willow. The food was to die for and service was amazing. We had dinner in one of the domes outside and it was warm and cozy, our waitress Stacy was an absolute gem, she made sure we had everything we needed, had a little chat with us before we left, to give us some ideas of places to visit as we were on holiday. The food and cocktails were great, complements to the chef, they knew what they were doing, I would recommend the Scallops, and the French Onion Mac and Cheese with braised short rib was something unique that I would definitely try again should we ever be back Ayr way. Could not have asked for a better last night of our holiday. I would recommend it to anyone in or visiting the Ayr area. We are very happy visitors.

We passed this restaurant and loved the way that it looked. We had also heard from a family member that the food was good here. We have never eaten in a dome before so decided to book it for our last evening of our holiday. The staff were very friendly and our waiter was very good with the children. we had music playing in the Dome and we were asked if we wanted the heating on. Blankets are also provided. The unique dining experience was very enjoyable and we would definitely do it again. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were great. We would really recommend this restaurant for families and for friends.

Having visited most of the Ayr restaurants since moving here last sumer, the Fox and Willow has become one of our favourites. The menu is much more imaginative than the usual staples you get elsewhere, and the staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful.

Sadly a poor experience on visiting with my young family. Just shy of 3 hours to get 1 adult meal and 2 kids meals. Also - lots of food 'unavailable' especially for Easter Sunday. When food came - it lacked any flavour and was lukewarm. Also - the sauce for the chicken tikka kebab came 5 minutes after the main plate arrived and chicken was sadly translucent. Kids pizza - 2 slices barely had any cheese and half of these slices were just sauce. Been a regular over the last few years but I feel crown has slipped and the experience tonight was poor and not even average. The annoying thing was that other tables arrived after us and finished before our food even arrived. They had audacity to charge a service charge when I asked to speak with manager I was told 'they are busy' so with two restless/tired kids we paid and left. A place that has lost its charm/friendliness and needs to work on public relations

This place thinks it's better than it actually is. The main disappointment is the food. It's just not exciting or in many cases, fresh. Fish was a bit greasy and more batter than fish. Chips were straight from the oven - indifferent pub food really. It's a nice spot, a comfortable venue and the service overall is good even at a busy time. The menu needs an overhaul though and better ingredients. One suggestion might be to cut the multiple options and go for higher quality. It's clear they have plenty customers but they could do better and be even more popular. Their crown has slipped I fear, which is a shame. I won't be rushing back until they issue a new menu.

Excellent cuisine. Filled with flavor, we placed an order for Korean fried chicken. A creamy sauce and lamb accompanied by pulled chicken. Every single dish was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I understand that it is a locals' all-time favorite, and the ambience was pleasant as well.

Excellent from start to finish, the new breakfast specials are fantastic. Friendliest staff that make your dining experience so good. Can’t rate this place enough.

We were looking for a dog friendly place in Alloway where we were staying but with little success so thought we would venture here. It's a lovely place with stylish decor and modern design whilst retaining original character. Usually we find the dog friendly bar areas of pubs to be a bit grotty so you're made to feel inferior lol but definitely not the case here! Lovely warming fire and nicely laid tables. Ambient lighting too which many eateries fail to get right. Our doggie was made to feel especially welcome and many members of the team stopped to give him a pat and to chat to us. The food and drinks were faultless and typically priced we felt. Being from Manchester we are used to paying the same food and drinks prices in Scotland as we did in our big city, a surprise at the time when we first moved up here. The domes outside look great and we will definitely return to try dining there. Restaurant was busy on a Sunday night but the bar where we ate was quiet, which we much prefer. Thanks guys, we had a great night. If I had one tiny bit of feedback it would be to offer a few doggie treats. Lots of places we visit do this and it's a thoughtful touch. Highly recommended!

I've been a fan of this gastro pub for several years. On the whole the food tends to be good with a reasonable portion size. (the current menu choices are sadly not to my personal liking not exciting like they used to be) The service can be a hit and miss, it used to outstanding and I hope it will be again. That meet and greet at the door is important to get right. Cocktails and drinks - great choice.

The service is absolutely shocking. Took about 30 minutes to receive a cocktail and a cola. The waiting time for our mains was ridiculous; an 1hour+ about an hour and 15 minutes between courses. The portion sizes are very small and not very good value...

Revival of former Carrick hotel to trendy eating place close to ayr town centre. Booked an outdoor bubble for my partner’s birthday and didn’t disappoint apart from at that time they were unable to serve alcohol in them as still classed as indoors. The food was lovely shared mixed tempura, then we had fish n chips and burger. The experience was made even better for us as we were able to bring our dog to lunch with us then made arrangements for us to sit in their gorgeous beer garden to enjoy a birthday beer. Very dog friendly. The staff were lovely chatty and couldn’t be more helpful. Would recommend

A party of 4 of us visited here for lunch,we each had a different main course ,every one of them was outstanding.I had the ribeye burger easily the best burger I've ever had,the rest of the party shared my opinion concerning their meal.When the bill came I was surprised how reasonable it was,all in all I can't wait to go back.

Visited Fox and Willow with my boyfriend and his parents for my boyfriend's birthday. Found online booking extremely easy. As a vegetarian I found their extensive menu such a lovely surprise. It isn't often you go for dinner and have more than 2 options - and it's often macaroni cheese. My tofu salad was incredible and my partner and his parents loved their starters too. My main was delicious and so well thought out - cauliflower madras and the others loved their dishes of steak and ale pie with all the trimmings and beef olives. Atmosphere was good - a little noisy - I think some of the diners were excited at the prospect of being allowed to drink inside! But the food and staff more than made up for it. Cocktails are delicious too. Will definitely be back soon. Thanks x

We called in looking for somewhere to eat and drink, we were put at a table by the door it was freezing there was a table next to us 4 guys with sever bad language my wife was very upset the table across from us had 4 dogs barking and lapping, to top that we had a pint and a half it cost £7.45 so we left never to return even if I won the lottery

My daughter, wife and I were passing and dropped in without any booking to see if we could have lunch. The staff were able to accommodate us with ease.We had mushroom & spinach soup which was very nice.Steak & ale pie - really tender meat and a huge lunchtime serving.I selected the macaroni & cheese with black pudding and pulled pork. Genuinely, this is the best mac & cheese I have ever tasted. Served with garlic bread, it was just amazing. Service was good, no pressure to rush us.I will be back

Generally very good. Four of us in a bubble, staff where efficient and pleasant albeit forget 1 of the partys chips and one of the steak knives was covered in sauce when given to us.Food was nothing fantastic , but was fresh and big tasty portions.A very electic almost pretentious menu.. but a good selection apart from sweets, no cheesecake and no cheese board. .Overall a good experience but could have been much nicer

What a lovely 1st dining experience for us post lockdown! We felt very safe & distanced in the restaurant. The service was fab.. our servers were so friendly & helpful! The food was outstanding! What a fantastic veggie/vegan menu! Some restaurants make you feel like an afterthought, but their seperate 3 course menu was very well considered absolutely delicious! I can highly recommend the roast cauliflower with lentil dhal & courgette bhajis!! Can’t wait to return!

Now tried a good dozen things off of the menu and yet to find a single fault. From generous mains to perfectly sized starters you will struggle to find fault. Tempura batter is perfect, burgers done to perfection and pasta that would pass the Italian family test.

On 16th January we ordered a takeaway for my birthday. When we went to pick it up it had not been ordered. There was no seafood left so we couldn't have what we had ordered and there was nothing left that we liked. My husband spoke to Alan the manager to complain and he insisted on delivering the seafood linguine personally and free of charge!! Thank you Alan. We can all make mistakes and the food was delicious. Would recommend it. Florence

Have had a few home deliveries recently during the Covid pandemic when we couldn’t go out for meals . All of very high standard . Easy to book food online , good menu ,food piping hot, delivered on time and well packaged . Cajun chicken and also ale battered haddock both excellent . Good sized portions too and friendly helpful delivery staff . Look forward to visiting the restaurant in person once restrictions ease . They have obviously gone to great lengths to cope in such unprecedented times with a slick home delivery / collection service with restaurant standard food and the building of their Domes .

Have had a couple of takeaways recently and they have been great. Menu choice is good, ordering process is clear and you can either collect or they will deliver. Have done both methods and each was simple and worked brilliantly. Delivery arrived when they said and collection was ready when requested for. The food was lovely, warm and delicious. Will be having many more.

To all you people you wrote bad reviews about this place I can only tell you how bad I feel for you. Because you went out for meal or you got advantage of a scheme and then went home and went to your PC/tablet/phone or whatever to write a bad review about this place I can tell you I feel sorry for you!Get a life and actually spend “time” with your partners!Yes I’m talking to you...went with my partner/wife/husband etc...what’s wrong with you!The place is clean, welcome nice and warm...all the members of the team very knowledgable and happy to assist.Food, then food came...perfection, simple and great flavours, that’s what you need!Scallops and oysters and pate(wasn’t watery at all but smooth as it should be) all great.Lamb chops for main and chateaubriand absolutely delicious and my meat cooked to perfection!To everyone who read this review I strongly recommend to visit this place, you will miss a gem if you don’t!Ps. Lovely location, Great space. This place offers fantastic service at these difficult times. They have domes in the garden now, just to make sure that the customers are safe and healthy. Loved the idea of having a private space for my family. Safe. Food is always fresh and delicious.

We’ve had two takeaways and they’re excellent. Great device just pull into the car park and they bring your food out. Tried the salads, pasta and pizza. Great food well packaged and healthy portions. Highly recommended.

Was in here yesterday family of 4. Service pretty good up until after main course. The plates were sitting in front of me longer than I would have liked. Food flavours were excellent only problem was the temperature I prefer my food to be a lot hotter than what arrived. I don’t send food back to the kitchen for fear of the chef special on return so just ate it luke warm. Busy place considering COVID restrictions but they were following the guidelines and I felt it was a safe environment. I would return here but would specifically as for my food to be super hot when ordering.

My husband and I attended the fox and willow for breakfast he had the cooked breakfast whereas I had avocado and salmon. I advised to milk which was quickly and easily sorted. The restaurant is very well presented and staff are friendly.

On the way home from holiday with everywhere to choose from, I remembered how amazing Alan & his team were during the Lockdown servicing locals in Ayrshire to carry out meals and thought it was time to support in person.We were able to have a table no bother, even though we hadn't booked.Safe environment, plenty choice on menu and even snacks and cocktails whilst you decide, no rush, great idea.Our meal was delicious. Big portions for all including kids, which she didn't manage, but better that way. Nice activity menu which kept her busy.Sunday roast was fab with around 6 different veg on plate and gorgeous rich gravy.Can't wait to go back.

Well set up for social distancing Staff are very friendly and efficient providing very good service however food was poor. Descriptions on the menu were not the same as the food which was served. Seemed to be frozen food and so very overpriced. Will not return for a meal due to this.

I dropped in here on a business trip and was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Lamb on Moroccon style cous cous. Absolutely delicious. I've never seen lamb done in quite that way before. A glass of wine and very nice ambiance made it a very enjoyable if a little bit of an expensive experience.

I visited this restaurant for lunch with my wife. We'd been before a year or two back and had a meal then that was 'acceptable' but not great but the noise factor (echoey, loud music so we couldn't hear each other speak) put us off coming back. Our opinion then was "It's definitely not the Carrick Lodge" (the previous incarnation of the restaurant which was very good). Anyway... on this visit we had a lunch that was just ok, really nothing special and certainly not the quality that the £15 for a beef burger should produce. My wife had haddock. Her summary was that it was "just ok". We both ate the lunch and it was fine but fairly plain and underwhelming. The service was again "fine". The staff (which changed with each course and also for the drinks) were pleasant but certainly not over friendly and seemed sightly rushed and harassed. The conclusion can be summed up by the way the white wine was served... in a tumbler! This was a first for us and left us slightly perplexed! We asked the waiter why the wine was in a large tumbler... to which he replied (in broken English) "I hope you enjoy". We left it at that

We visited the pub with 7 of us, first time we’ve been here and we will definitely be back. Outstanding food for very reasonable prices. The staff were fantastic, really helpful and attentive and very good social distancing measures in place. The food was the most amazing I’ve tried all holiday and I can’t wait to return to try some of the other dishes. I would highly recommend a visit here.
