This is a superb little restaurant, serving delicious fresh fish and seafood dishes (meat and vegetarian options also available); but my husband and I come here when we’re on our annual visit to Mousehole for the fish and seafood. Think this was our 8th visit and we were not disappointed. Never have been. Excellent, imaginative dishes, using the finest & freshest local ingredients, well Newlyn fish market is just up the road!, served by friendly, cheerful, helpful young staff. Another enjoyable evening. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, same time next year.

An absolute gem. We visited twice during our five day trip to Cornwall. The cooking is imaginative, exemplary and everything is just 'right' (including the delicious St Ives bakery bread). You feel that everything is considered and is on the plate for a purpose. The staff are charming and helpful. Highly recommended

Don’t hesitate! Book a table & prepare your tastebuds for a proper treat! Scallops followed by battered monkfish, fries, pea purée & a little jug of creamy curry sauce! (If you don’t like fish, there are always yummy options on the menu!) Casual & relaxed, some tables with harbour views, a wine list to suit most wallets & friendly staff! GO!

I’ve seen a few recent reviews commenting on the staff at 2FS in a negative way. Absolutely not reflective of our experience in any way, shape, or form. We were welcomed, felt welcome and looked after well throughout. While we’ve been here for coffees and meals on many occasions over the years tonights was especially good. My partner commented that the seafood dish (pan fried sea bream and spiced lobster arancini with saffron cream) was the best seafood she’d had anywhere ever. I’m not a seafood fan, plenty of choice though, and the McFaddens steak was done beautifully. We’ll be back again for sure.

The sardines with beetroot cream fresh was excellent and the staff were great, definitely going again next time we are In Cornwall

5 stars for a service, atmosphere, food and vibe. Amazing place.

We have stayed in Mousehole over 2 New Years now ,and love it . Thought we would try this place out as a change from our hotel . So glad we did , it was wonderful ! The John Dory main course was exceptional. Good wine list at sensible prices . Staff were good and atmosphere pleasant . If I had one tiny criticism ,the place was too brightly lit....but I'm being picky and would certainly return.

The food and wine are really good but some of the people serving behave as though if the world were put to rights you would be serving them It’s such a shame that surly service let’s down a potential gem

Excellent food and great service

My wife took me here for my birthday as she had been there for lunches and rated the restaurant. On arrival, staff were very young females, who seemed to be very unhappy in their work and no one obviously in charge. Scallop starter was nice and well cooked, but still attached to shell making it fiddly to eat. Hake main, fish well cooked, but Mushroom sauce almost cold, and mash had no taste of truffle. Greens side was not cooked at all and over seasoned with raw garlic.

Just the most beautiful restaurant. Obviously seafood is abundant, so the menu reflects this. However, if you want a perfect beef steak, you got that too! Blue cheese souffle, scallops, chicken liver parfait, incredible prawns. Just a perfect celebration meal for Mums 80th and my 60th. Lovely staff. Thank you X

Best meal in a long time - absolutely delicious! Lovely little spot in Mousehole, polite, friendly service - attentive but not intrusive. I had the crab souffle to start and hake with truffle mash and mushroom fricassee - amazing! Nicest fish I've eaten in a long time.

Oh dear, ill prepared menu, sub standard food and staff with attitude . It's rumoured that if the owner Joe isn't in the kitchen then consider booking elsewhere. On this experience, good advice.

Simply the best Restaurant in Cornwall

We visited here today on a recommendation and it certainly lived up to its great reputation. Our food was amazing, I had lemon sole which was the best fish I’ve ever tasted and I’m pretty old. We will definitely return when back in Cornwall.

I had my birthday dinner there unplanned and ngl it’s one of the best dinners I’ve had in the UK, especially for seafood. We ordered the scallops and prawns for starter and a fish stew the share; the scallops are amazingly fresh, sweet and the seasoning is just perfect. The fish stew has a bit of everything, all very fresh and the fish is cooked beautifully. My partner and I were so full n happy! The drinks we ordered were a warm spiced cider n a hot toddy, both were super delicious ☺️ Will 100% come back in the future!

Great food. Always look forward to visiting. Found it a bit expensive this time … but perhaps that is just the world at the moment 🤷‍♀️ (think the prawns should have been deveined).

Highly recommended.  Two Fore Street is an incredible restaurant that keeps exceeding our expectations year after year. This was our fourth annual visit to celebrate a friend's birthday, & it just keeps getting better. The food they serve is nothing short of fantastic & the presentation is impeccable. We have eaten breakfast here a few times and the food is really lovely but the service is usually hit and miss! We arrived at 11.30am on the 10th of October for breakfast or lunch. Only one customer was in there drinking coffee. We asked if they were serving breakfast and were abruptly told 'no it's finished and lunch isn't for half an hour' They then carried on putting cutlery on tables. We walked straight back out and went to the gorgeous Deli on the harbour where we had a fantastic meal and experience. Won't set foot in No.2 Fore Street again!

Lovely restaurant, very friendly.

We had a great lunch in the courtyard at the back of the restaurant on a beautiful sunny day in October. The food was delicious and beautifully cooked. The makeral pâté starter was tasty, creamy and without any bones. It was lovely. The seafood Thai curry with mussels prawns and fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. Service was attentive and very friendly. Thoroughly recommend this place, and we will be back!

We had dinner and afternoon tea here. A very good place to eat. The dinner was top class I had panko sole.My son had a whole lemon sole. For dessert, son had the creme brulee and I had the steamed pudding with ice cream. Drank the local sparkling Pol. It was the best food I've eaten since I last ate here six years ago. Good to see the standard has held. Afternoon tea was a real treat. Food presented well. Waitresses were lovely. Thank you.

We made advance reservations, even for lunch it is recommended. So happy we did as it was packed. We luckily arrived early and managed to get seated in the bay window at the front with a bit of a view of the harbor. Everything we had was outstanding. I still dream of the monkfish, delicious. Highly recommend this place!

This is the place for great seafood when staying in Mousehole. We had to eat early because the restaurant is small and busy. Good service from pleasant staff. Not the cheapest but worth it!

We booked this restaurant having looked at reviews on Trip Advisor and enjoyed our lunch with a great view of the harbour. My husband chose the Scallops starter which comprised of 3 scallops for £12.75 which when you include service is £14 for 3 scallops! I chose the butterflied sardines with toasted almonds which were really good. Mains, my husband chose the seafood curry and I chose the seabass off the specials board. My seabass fillets were excellent however the veg was a bit soggy. My husband did say his curry was lacking in variety although it tasted good. We had a bottle of vinho verde and a couple of drinks before lunch, our total bill was £128.15 including service.

Whilst the food and restaurant itself was lovely, very rude staff and poor service, which I can see other diners have commented on. Would not go back, which is shame as location and food was excellent.

Perfect, fresh, delicious, why isn't it in Michelin yet?

Wanted a light lunch and were lucky enough to get a table. The village was jam packed. Guy behind the counter was really friendly as was the waitress. We had pasties which were absolutely delicious. Main meals were served upstairs and the menu looked wonderful. If we are ever in the area again we will be making a bee line for the place.

Have visited this place before and wanted to come back. Excellent seafood here and lovely staff. Decided to splash out and had the whole dressed crab, which was very good. A little pricey at £24; but then crab is never cheap.

The restaurant is situated right on the harbour front. If you love fish you will love 2 Fore Street! . We had the crab soup and fish curry it was fabulous but there was so much to choose from with a specials board too. They certainly know how to serve fish with a difference. It gets very busy so would suggest booking.

What a lovely restaurant. The vibe is quaint calm and professional. The smell as you walk inside screams “This is going to be a fantastic meal” the waitress was very prompt, thoughtful and attentive too - even as they were really busy. This is 100% a must go when in or around Mouse Hole. I only wish there would have been an explanation of the dish and it’s ingredients as the food was being presented at the table as the food was just so good it deserved more attention.

Best lunch we’ve had in ages. Beautifully cooked and presented sea bass and dressed crab main dishes; superb dark chocolate mousse with coconut sorbet. Well curated wine list. We couldn’t fault it and will certainly return next time we are in Cornwall.

We booked 2 Fore Street as we were staying in Mousehole and could see how popular and well regarded it was. Booking I think is essential. We arrived and the whole evening was a pleasure. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff unhurried but very efficient service and incredible food using local ingredients. We both had scallops delicious then a fish curry and pan fried hake. All with local fish and both beautifully presented and tasty. Followed by ice cream and a lovely baked cheesecake with p-x soaked raisins. A very high quality meal and would recommend very highly. This is a restaurant specialising in seafood right by the harbour in Mousehole. We managed to get a table outside which, with a pleasant evening, kept everything cool for us and the walled back area was sheltered. The food itself was very good with a number of specials. A very pleasant meal and the bonus is you can get there and back easily on the bus from Penzance.

Have been to this restaurant many times before. We ALWAYS return. The staff, food and atmosphere are fantastic. The garden is a haven and Dog Friendly. The lunch today was magnificent. Amazing fresh seafood, expertly prepared. My family and I thought it was one of the best meals of our long trip to the UK. Great and attentive service. Only 1 of true gems to be found in Mousehole.

What can I say that hasn't been said already - stellar food, welcoming and warm service ... staff that will go out of their way to accommodate any adhoc requests and the only restaurant we ate in more than twice during our stay in Cornwall. The soufflés are to die for and the Risotto was amongst the best we've had. Absolutely delicious food and a lovely quaint outdoor seating with heat lamps which made for a comfortable, enjoyable experience. Can't recommend enough.

Amazing seafood in a top location. The local bakery bread basket, anchovies, seafood curry and seabass special were all fantastic. Service was friendly if a little slow but it was a busy evening and it didn’t affect our enjoyment.

Visited on Tuesday 22nd August to perfect weather. The restaurant is simple but effective. It's pretty and unspoiled. The food was very nice. Mussels, lemon sole, baked goats cheese, local greens. Only came to Mousehole because my wife read the Mousehole Cat book to my son. It's more beautiful and homely than the book describes and the restaurant serves seafood as you'd expect given the harbour location.

Great service and food. Would highly recommend. Good was lovely and there was a good variety without being overwhelming. It was also a good portion that wasn't too big or small. Staff are good with recommendations and are attentive and friendly. We sat in the garden which is a nice area out the back which is nice and cool in the shade when it's hot.

Very poor service here. Not made to feel welcome at all; staff were not engaged nor did some of them seem to care. Waited for 10 minutes before we were offered a menu and had to ask for water. Member of staff who eventually took order barely spoke and was sullen. Food was mediocre and definitely not the standard we were expecting. Very disappointed.

Four of us stopped in for late lunch with our dog after a strenuous amble on the coastal path from Lamorna. Staff were lovely, especially Zoe. They served us delicious food including some of the fattest, tastiest mussles anywhere. Recommended.

Went with my wife and 7yo daughter on a Friday evening. Booked ahead for 5pm. Was seated quickly but took a while to come and take a drinks order as they're were busy seating many people at once. Ordered the panko crumb Scollops to start and the fish stew for main. Wife had Goat cheese and aubergine with a side of taters. Daughter ordered sausage and chips. We had one round of drinks Not going to lie, this is on the expensive side. £85 for 2 adults and a child, only one had a starter and no desserts is expensive. This included a tip, which is automatically put on the bill. I really don't like when restaurants do this. The service we had wasn't a £10 tip service and it creates a socially awkward moment to ask for it to be removed. I normally tip anyway, and tip well, but it's a real bug bear when this is taken out your hand and, anecdotally service drops. The food was magnificent though. The scallops were massive, the fish stew, fresh and prepared to perfection. I was expecting some small bones but the chef had clearly done their job well. My wife greatly enjoyed her main. My daughter was a little disappointed with the sausage and chips as they weren't sausages, they were chipolatas and there was no veggies to accompany it. Would I go again? Yes. It was an exception tasty meal. The lack of a 5th star represents dissatisfaction with auto tipping and the let down of the child's meal. The adult meals were outstanding!

Little eatery in Mousehole. Decent enough food with a focus on fish which was very high quality. Staff quite busy and not always the most experienced but that's the start of summer, they will get trained up. I think the food is at the upper end of prices for quality and experience but certainly a nice place to come for a bite to eat.

An absolutely brilliant spot for a delicious meal! Staff are friendly and the menu had a great variety of delicious dishes to try. We tried the mackerel pate, crab souffle, garlic shrimp, lobster butter scallops paired with local greens - all soooo delicious, I could have gone for second rounds if only my stomach could fit it in :) I would recommend getting a couple of starters and sharing with a pal, so you try more dishes. Loved being back in Mousehole and visiting the very special 2 Fore Street restaurant. We always sit in the beautiful garden as we have a dog with us but it still feels just as special. We are vegetarian but always enjoy the delicious veggie options....

Me and my partner came here for dinner. The staff were not friendly at all and just sat us at a corner. It toke them about 15 minute to come over and take our order. The restaurant were not full at the time at all. The starter arrive and taste really nice but the main course we order the crab cake was really fishy smell and not nice at all. After we finish our food,no one bother to come over to ask if we like to order dessert.. given we order a bottle of wine.. service is horrible.. for the price we pay for,we expect a more attentive or friendly service. Will not come back again!

Have eaten here three times so far this year. Each time the food has been great with a good choice of specials. Food is very well presented and is of excellent quality. There are a great range of drinks on the menu too. Haven’t had the desserts but they all sounded good too! Definitely a place to book. Dogs are allowed in the rear garden area.

Pre booking is recommended. We arrived at 5.45 and got the last table inside for the night (Tuesday) and fully boxed for the Wednesday already. Service was prompt and good, and the food was excellent. Best to park at enyerancecti village and walk in to harbour 10 mins.

A charming evening in their secluded courtyard. Food was beautifully presented, timely served for a table of 5 and most importantly all absolutely delicious! Decided the crab soufflé was the winning starter although the scallops were meltingly scrumptious. Seafood curry voted best main with hake the close runner up. Service was friendly and attentive. This rating would've been higher if we hadn't had the atrocious service we experienced. As someone who's been in hospo over 10 years, I can forgive a restaurant if its busy, or they're forgetful or it's someone new, but what we experienced was very rude. Not a smile or greeting when we walked in, just told us our table was outside, and that was it. Took ages for anyone to check on us when we first sat down and then repeatedly, after that we were forgotten about. Had to get up and get our own jug of water twice. A server came by to clear our table and was so rude when I asked to order a dessert, wouldn't even look us in the eye or crack a smile. It really put us off., The food definitely saved the night, the Hake with the fish cake was delicious and the brownie with salted caramel was a good way to end the meal.
